New Skoda Octavia vRS UK pricing announces

The Czech carmaker, Skoda has announced the UK pricing and specification of its all-new Octavia vRS. It offers a perfect blend of sportiness, space and functionality, taking Skoda performance to a new level. The new Skoda Octavia prices start from £22,990 for UK buyers. It is based on the third-generation Octavia launched earlier this year, and will make its world debut at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed, showcasing a host of engineering, innovations, dramatic design and high performance.

With new technologies combining to make the car lighter and more affordable to run, the new model is the most complete vRS package ever offered. “The new Octavia vRS has a very special place in the heart of everyone at ŠKODA.” Says Alasdair Stewart, Brand Director ŠKODA UK. “It unites our love of motorsport, sharp design and bold engineering, and is one of the most exciting cars we’ve ever made. For UK buyers, the Octavia vRS will be made available in both hatchback and estate forms. The hatch offers 590 litres of boot space with the rear seats in position, while the estate provides 610 litres of luggage room. The rear seats are foldable, which increases the space to 1,580 litres and 1,740 litres respectively. The all-new Skoda Octavia vRS is available in both diesel and petrol guise : a 2.0 TSI petrol that generates 217bhp, and the most powerful diesel engine ever to be offered in an Octavia in the form of a 2.0 TDI 181.5bhp. Both are available with the choice of a six-speed manual transmission or a DSG automatic.

In order to extract high performance, Skoda has engineered a new chassis set up that features a lowered ride height (12mm hatch, 13mm estate) and advanced multi-link rear suspension design. Electronic differential lock (XDS) is fully integrated into the Octavia’s electronic stability control (ESC) system, and helps improve traction in corners. The new Octavia also introduces a new progressive steering system that varies the amount of lock required according to road speed.
