In an attempt to give its customers an opportunity to experience their cars’ performance, Jaguar India started the ‘Alive’ drive experience across the country. Starting from Indore and through cities like Raipur, Delhi, Chandigarh, Kolkata and Hyderabad, customers were given a chance to drive the company’s latest sports car, the F-Type and the extreme Jaguar XKR-S.
Unfortunately, the Jaguar Alive drive wasn’t complete in Chennai as the F-Type was absent from the festivities. Still, we got to drive the most bonkers model from the Jaguar lineup, the XKR-S.
A track car for the road, the Jaguar XKR-S is powered by a 5-litre supercharged engine pumping out a 543 hp at 6000 to 6500 rpm and a back crumbling 680 Nm of peak torque at 2500 to 5500 rpm.
The XKR-S can reach an electronically limited top speed of 300 km/h and on the way, sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds.
Apart from looking like a stunner, the XKR-S also looks sounds great and takes off like a jet. The French Racing Blue finished XKR-S looked radiant amidst the crowd and is the colour to go for.
The vocal explosion of the V8 through the quad exhaust renders any soundtrack blasting out of the Bowers & Wilkins sound system meaningless.
The all-aluminium construction of the XKR-S aids in reducing the weight, which in turn helps improve fuel efficiency, handling and performance.
Bi-xenon HID xenon headlamps, LED daytime running lights, 20-inch gloss black alloy wheels add more emotion on the outside.
Inside, things get an all black treatment while the Performance seats, which come as standard, were finished in black with blue contrast stitching.
So, next time you are in a Jaguar XKR-S, sit deep in the seats, push start the engine, turn the gear knob to drive mode and bring down the windows. Let the cat out.
