Jazz 2014-2020 1.2 V i VTEC Review
Honda Jazz 1.2 V iVTEC is the mid range trim in its model series. It is powered by a 1198cc petrol engine, which is based on a single overhead camshaft based valve configuration. It is mated with a five speed manual transmission gear box, which enables the vehicle to deliver a good performance and decent mileage as well. Its braking and suspension mechanism are quite efficient, which keeps the vehicle well balanced at all times. The spacious internal cabin is incorporated with well cushioned seats, a smooth dashboard with a lot of features and lot of utility based aspects. It also has an advanced instrument panel with various dials and meters for keeping the driver updated. At the same time, its frontage has a bold radiator grille that is fitted with a thick black strip. Then it is designed with a well designed headlight cluster, body colored bumper, a large windscreen and so on. The company is offering this model with a standard warranty of two years or 40000 Kilometers, whichever comes first. At the same time, this hatchback will compete against the likes of Volkswagen Polo, Maruti Swift, Fiat Punto EVO, Hyundai Elite i20 and others in this segment.
Exteriors:
Starting with the frontage, this variant has an attractive radiator grille, which is flanked by a well designed headlight cluster. It is incorporated with high intensity halogen lamps and side turn indicator. It has a couple of character lines on the bonnet that create a dynamic look. The body colored bumper is fitted with a wide air dam that is flanked by a couple of bright fog lamps. It has a large windscreen that is made of laminated glass and accompanied by a pair of intermittent wipers. Coming to its side profile, which is sleekly designed with flared up wheel arches that are fitted with a robust set of steel wheels. These rims are further covered with high performance tubeless radial tyres. The outside rear view mirrors and door handles are painted in body color. These ORVMs are electrically adjustable and fitted with a side turn indicator. The B-pillar is in black finish that enhances the look of its sides. At the same time, its rear end neatly carved and fitted with a curvy boot lid that has a thick strip and embossed with variant badging. It has a body colored bumper that is fitted with a pair of reflectors and a courtesy lamp as well. The radiant tail light cluster is incorporated with reverse light and turn indicator. Its windscreen has a high mounted stop lamp.
Interiors:
The insides are designed in dual tone color scheme and is incorporated with a number of refined features that gives it a classy look. It has a smooth dashboard, which is equipped with a few features like a large glove box, an illuminated instrument panel, a three spoke steering wheel and AC vents. The car maker has incorporated the cabin with well cushioned seats, which are ergonomically designed. These seats provide ample leg space and head room for all passengers. The seats are integrated with head restraints and are covered with premium upholstery. The driver seat comes with height adjustable function, while rear seat has split foldable facility that helps in increasing the boot space of car. Then the fabric inserted door trims and chrome finished inside door handles gives the cabin a decent appearance.
Engine and Performance:
This variant is fitted with a 1.2-litre petrol engine, which comes with a displacement capacity of 1198cc. It is integrated with four cylinders and sixteen valves using a single overhead camshaft based valve configuration. This petrol mill can churn out a maximum power of 88.8bhp at 6000rpm in combination with a peak torque output of 110Nm at 4800rpm. It is cleverly mated with a five speed manual transmission gear box, which sends the engine power to its front wheels. It enables the vehicle to attain a top speed in the range of 140 to 145 Kmph and can cross the speed barrier of 100 Kmph in close to 15-16 seconds approximately. This engine is incorporated with an advanced fuel injection supply system, which allows the vehicle to deliver a decent fuel economy.
Braking and Handling:
Its braking mechanism is further augmented by ABS along with electronic brake force distribution. The front wheels get a set of disc brakes, while rear ones have been equipped with a conventional set of drum brakes. The company has used a McPherson strut type of mechanism for its front axle, while its rear axle has been fitted with a torsion beam. Both these axles are accompanied by coil springs for a comfortable and jerk free driving experience. It is equipped with an electrically assisted power steering system, which is quite responsive and makes it convenient to handle even in peak traffic conditions.
Comfort Features:
The manufacturer has given this mid range variant an advanced infotainment system, which comes with Bluetooth connectivity for pairing the mobile phones. This advanced music system supports CD/MP3 player, radio with AM/FM tuner, USB interface, Aux-in port and six speakers that enhances the ambiance of its cabin. In addition to these, it is equipped with front and rear electrically adjustable seats, individual tyre pressure monitoring system and many other such aspects. It has an advanced air conditioning unit, which comes with a heater for maintaining the temperature inside the cabin. The advanced instrument panel is equipped with various warning and notifications for keeping the driver alert. It houses a low fuel warning light, tachometer, multi-tripmeter, door ajar warning, seat belt reminder and so on.
Safety Features:
The list of protective aspects available in this variant includes dual front SRS airbags, ABS along with EBD and 3-point ELR seat belts for all seats that gives maximum protection to the occupants. Then it is also equipped with a rear defogger, fog lamps, parking sensors, a high mounted stop lamp, a centrally located fuel tank and many other such aspects. Apart from these, it also has an advanced engine immobilizer that prevents the vehicle from any unauthorized entry.
