With the launch of SLK 55 AMG, rumors are afloat that the company is in the process of bring their flagship model - the S Class to India as soon as the second week of December 2013. Earlier we had been saying that Indian consumers could see a launch of this model during the 2014 Auto Expo but from recent developments its clear that the 'Three Pointed Star' manufacturer is not leaving any stone unturned to end the year on a high note.

Mercedes S Class

The 2014 edition S Class in exterior profile will offers a larger radiator with an upright three-dimentional design. Therefore there is going to be a longer bonnet on offer along with a sloping roofline that elegantly merges into the rear. It is the first time that Mercedes has catered to LED lights throughout the exterior as well as interiors. What this means is that instead of Xenons now the new S class would just not provide LED headlamps and taillamps, but also feature cabin lights and turn indicators in LED. Meanwhile the interiors are more upmarket than before especially the dual 12 inch TFT screen that provides it a classy look. Some of the features on board include leather interiors, digital radio, bluetooth, Command Sat Nav and online connectivity to mention a few.

The radiator grille is now larger, upright and distinctly three-dimensional in design. With its long bonnet, the flowing, domed roof line and the gently slanting rear end, the new S-Class has classic saloon proportions. The size and space have been fashioned in such a way that the Mercedes-Benz S-Class appears prestigious, and the powerful roof line is also in keeping with the car's sporty coupé-style intentions.

Currently abroad, the S Class is being offered in two engine variations that comprise of 3 litres V6 diesel and 5.5-litre bi-turbo with an AMG tag. Both models come fitted with a 7 speed automatic transmission. However we expect only the 3 litre V6 to be coming to India. For more information and updates kindly stay tunned to CarDekho.com
