Lotus might launch an SUV soon

Lotus has always been associated with fast, light weight and agile sports cars, but the British manufacturer is now ready to explore other genres as well. It’s no secret that Lotus has been struggling a lot, and it does not have many road-going models on sale. But in an order to change these not-so-good current circumstances, the last year-appointed CEO Jean-Marc Gales is going fast for a turnaround. One of these was to update its current model range as well as to launch some new models. The first of these updated models, the Evora 400, was unveiled last week at the Geneva Motor Show.

These new models have been rumored to include more mainstream models, which is very important for the viability, such as an SUV and sedan. In a latest conversation with a leading newspaper, Gales said ‘Lotus’ board will make a decision on a new four-door model this year, and that the model in question will most likely be an SUV.’ "We'd do an SUV that is very light, very fast on the track and has outstanding handling," Gales explained.

According to him, the brand would ‘reinvent the category, rather than simply join it,’ hinting at another great product from Lotus’s stable. Earlier there were reports that the company is planning an Evora-based SUV, which we had thought were just rumors but after these official words, its highly expected to be reality very soon.
