Ford Ecosport launch tomorrow, how does it rival with Renault Duster?

Ford is launching the Ecosport tomorrow, and everyone is thrilled for the pricing. The Ecosport will be available with three engine options and it comes loaded with several bells and whistles, some of which are segment-first too. To know more about the Ecosport, read our detailed review on this compact SUV. Renault has played it well, as the Duster does have an upper-hand on being one of the first to enter this segment, as at the moment it doesn’t have any competition. The Duster’s chrome-filled front grille is also highly attractive and liked by many.

    Ford EcoSport

The Duster comes with two engine options in the diesel while there is one on the offering in the petrol. The 1.6-litre petrol produces 103bhp, while the diesel is available with two different power ratings (85bhp and 108bhp). The diesel is the most commonly sold version, and now the top-of-the-line trim RxZ gets a touchscreen system, adding more features to the Duster. The 85bhp is the real competition to the Ford Ecosport’s diesel engine and it is a close call between the two. In petrol, Ford’s EcoBoost is a clear winner.

    EcoSport-vs-Duster

The Ford Ecosport is likely to be less expensive than the Duster, as it is a sub 4-metre compact SUV, which means it doesn’t just get less excise on length but even a wave-off of 3% duty that Duster buyers pay for the SUV. For petrol buyers, there is another good news that Ecoboost also gets extra excise benefit for its lower engine displacement. The call is close, and we recommend the Ecosport for Ford’s better spread network and lower maintenance cost, as Ford claims to have introduced child parts on the Ecosport. All will trickle down to the pricing of the Ecosport, which is just about 24 hours away.
