Holi is played with much fervour in India. With the festival being just around the corner, the time is just right for us to immerse ourselves in the world of colours and admire some of our colourful 4-wheeled beauties for the sheer sensory pleasure they provide us.

Automakers have their fair share of fun with colours. Some of their offerings are droolworthy, whereas others are just outright crazy. But during the festival of colours, who are we to complain when these cars add to the merriment? Whether or not you prefer a car with exotic colours is your choice, but we simply adore automakers playing with colours on these little marvels. Here is a list of seven cars which look seriously cool, wrapped in the colours of the rainbow.

RED

Mitsubishi Cedia: When this car is around, it sure makes heads turn. The Cedia's bright red (Rally Red) created a sensation among sports car enthusiasts in India. It came with a price tag of around Rs. 10 lakh and featured a 2.0-litre petrol engine. More than the power figure of 115bhp, the driving dynamics of this car were appreciated by its users. These cars still fetch a lot of money in the used-car market and aficionados have a gala time driving this mean machine.

ORANGE

Honda Jazz: Quite a few cars now feature the orange paint scheme, but this colour was popularised by the Honda Jazz. Featuring a bright orange skin under the yellow sun, the Jazz grabbed attention. When it passes by, it doesn’t let you ignore its bright presence. Launched back in July, Jazz became a huge seller for the Japanese carmaker.

YELLOW

Maruti Zen: Remember the small yellow hatchback in which you tried your first powerslide? In its sporty yellow covering, this car became one of the front runners for drag racing in India. Its 60bhp provided it a good power-to-weight ratio and made it really fun to drive. The Zen started the car modification trend, with people equipping their machines with larger tyres, hefty body kits and loud mufflers to make their cars stand out.

GREEN

Chevrolet Beat: There were other green-coloured cars before, but never quite like this one. Not only did people love the Beat in green, it became the signature colour for the little diesel. The Chevrolet Beat was one of the first cars in its segment to feature a diesel mill. It came with a 936cc-diesel, or a 1199cc-petrol engine. The Cocktail Green remains one of its most striking colours. Watch how the Beat stands in its segment after the arrival of the Tata Tiago.

BLUE

Ford Figo (pre-facelift): There is no blue like the Ford blue. The Ford Figo was a successful car for the American carmaker in the Indian market. Painted in the iconic blue, it looked stunning and was a sight to behold. The car was a hit with the youth, for it drove well and came with all the creature comforts that one could hope for. The car puts out 68bhp from the 1.4-litre diesel and 70bhp from the 1.2-litre petrol. It can still be spotted on the streets; and the iconic blue will surely make you give it a second glance.

INDIGO

Tata Nano: The Tata Nano is definitely an engineering marvel. Despite being one of the most compact cars in the country, it offers more space than most of its rivals. However, the reason it attracted the media's attention was its Rs. 1 lakh price tag at the time of its launch. The car has gone through several updates by now, and features many funky colours, such as Damson Purple and Persian Rose.

VIOLET

Zen Estilo: The Estilo came as a disappointment to Zen enthusiasts, but for many it was a blessing in disguise. It lacked all the sportiness of the older generation and instantly became a family hatch. The only aspect it retained from the Zen DNA was the colour scheme. Apart from the blinding yellow, the Estilo also came drenched in a violet shade, which became immensely popular among girls. The car was bought by many, but was later discontinued when the WagonR took over.

So this was our list of rainbow cars. Do share your list of favourite cars in their zany colours with us using the comments section. Also tell us which other colour you would want your 4-wheel machines to be available in.

CarDekho wishes all its readers a very happy and colourful Holi! Have fun, drive safe.
