Bridgestone India has launched its all new range of tyres called Ecopia. These tyres have been classified differently for Passenger vehicles and SUV’s. EcopiaEP150 caters for passenger cars whereas EcopiaEP850 is for SUV’s and CUV’s. Bridgestone claims that Ecopia tyres will be 7-10 % more fuel efficient and will also have lesser CO2 emissions than conventional tyres.
Addressing media at the launch , Mr. Kazuhiko Mimura, Managing Director, Bridgestone India Pvt. Ltd. said, “Bridgestone’s Environmental Mission Statement of “To help ensure a healthy environment for current and future generations” is the driving force behind our launch of Ecopia in India. Through Ecopia’s fuel-efficiency, Bridgestone can contribute towards the reduction of CO2 emissions in India, while enabling Indian drivers to achieve fuel-savings. Apart from increased fuel-efficiency and being environment-friendly, Ecopia EP150 and EP850 are also designed to provide durability and excellent road handling performance.”
The term Ecopia has been derived from “Ecology” and “Utopia”. This signifies Bridgestone’s tilt towards eco-activities and its long-term environmental vision of achieving a 50 percent reduction in CO2 by the year 2050. 26 sizes of Ecopia tyres will be available initially, in between 13" to 18" rim diameters, and will fit majority of compact vehicles. Bridgestone has sold 10 million Ecopia tyres in the Asia-Pacific region as of April 2015.
