Putting an end to all the speculations, Jeep has now released the official images of the 2014 Cherokee ahead of its scheduled debut at the New York Auto Show. The New Jeep Cherokee will replace the company's small SUV 'Liberty' globally. And believe us the car leaves all its competitors behind in looks, we personally didn't expect this to be so good, in fact it's way better than the spy shots released by some web portals in the past.

Thing to notice here is that it's not the Jeep Grand Cherokee, but an all new entry-level SUV, possibly the same B segment SUV that the Jeep said to bring in India. Here in India the car will compete with the likes of Honda CR-V, Toyota Fortuner, Mahindra XUV500 and others. Based on a Fiat's 'compact wide' platform, the new Cherokee will sport a 3.2-litre V6 engine based on Chrysler's 3.6-litre Pentastar engine and ZF Friedrichshfen designed new 9-speed front wheel drive automatic gearbox transmission.

The picture seems to be a top-end variant which has curved grille, differently shaped hood, sleek headlights, and plastic body cladding, making it look very aggressive. However, nothing on the final specifications have been said by the company, it says that the 2014 Jeep Cherokee sets a new standard with even more best-in-class capability, exemplary on-road driving dynamics, and fuel economy improvements of more than 45 percent versus the outgoing mid-size SUV model. The all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee will be built in the United States at Chrysler Group's Toledo Assembly Plant in Toledo, Ohio, and will arrive in dealer showrooms in the third quarter of this year.
