From full-size to compact ones, SUVs are the trend now. And the arrival of compact SUVs has disrupted not just the SUV segment but the whole car market as well. Let’s have a look at five of the most affordable SUVs on sale now in India.
1. Renault Duster
The one that started it all. Renault Duster is the car that kicked off the trend of compact SUVs in India and it is also the car that made Renault known to all. The Duster had a great design, amazing ride quality and good engines to make it one of the best selling SUVs since its launch. Available in three engine options - one petrol engine and two versions of diesel engine, the Duster is a great all rounder.
Price range: Rs.8.30 lakhs - Rs.13.54 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi
2. Ford EcoSport
Jumpstarting the sub-4-meter race. Though the Duster made the compact SUVs famous, the Ford EcoSport made them affordable with its sub-4-meter length and the killer pricing it came with. And the engine options really gave the customers more to choose from. The 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine made many a ripple while the 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel offered great support.
Price range: Rs.6.80 lakhs - Rs.10.50 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi
3. Hyundai Creta
Latest fan favourite. Hyundai Creta is good looking SUV with great features and has been received with arms wide open by both the public and critics alike. Hyundai has increased the production of the Creta thanks to the overwhelming demand. The Creta is offered with three engine options - 1.4-litre diesel, 1.6-litre petrol and a 1.6-litre diesel.
Price range: Rs.8.69 lakhs - Rs.13.80 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi
4. Maruti Suzuki S-Cross
Slow start but the steadiest. The S-Cross may not have the initial response of other Maruti Suzuki products, but this is one of the most sure-footed SUVs on sale in India. The S-Cross is surely an able SUV but a confused one, being often compared and bettered by the Creta. Great engine and amazing performance should make the S-Cross stand out.
Price range: Rs.8.30 lakhs - Rs.13.70 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi
5. Mahindra TUV300
New kid on the block. Mahindra TUV300 is the latest entrant in the sub-4-meter pack but doesn’t look like one. The TUV300 has a boxy but good looking exterior and a great to be in interior, with a 1.5-litre diesel engine powering it. With great initial feedback and good reviews, the TUV should also turn out to be another feather in Mahindra’s cap.
Price range: Rs7.00 lakhs - Rs.9.20 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi
6. Mahindra Bolero
Mahindra Bolero is not just one of the best selling SUVs but has featured in the best selling cars in India for quite some time now. The rugged Bolero has been well received by the public for its low maintenance and iron-clad reliability especially in the rural areas. The Bolero is getting ready for a new generation transformation and we expect the things to get just better.
Price range: Rs6.00 lakhs - Rs.8.30 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi
