Land Rover Discovery Sport

The Discovery Sport is the entry-level model in the Land Rover lineup, sitting below the bigger Discovery and Defender. It is essentially a shrunken down version of the Discovery – perfect for urban usage, with slightly less performance and space, but with similar levels of off-road capabilities. 

It is a 5-seater, but you can opt for the third row of seats if required. The Discovery Sport can be considered as a more adventure-ready rival to the BMW X3, Audi Q5, and Mercedes-Benz GLC.

The design of the Discovery Sport looks very similar to the Discovery with a similar rounded shape, especially at the front. It sports sleek LED headlights, which get twin U-shaped DRLs. The grille features a honeycomb-like pattern with the Land Rover badge resting on the right side of the grille. The Discovery lettering sits on the end of the bonnet, just above the grille.

The bumper gets cut-outs towards the side, and a gaping air intake in the middle. There’s also a gap in the body between the number plate and grille.

In profile, it sits on 19-inch Gloss Dark Grey wheels with a dual five-spoke design. The roofline is pretty flat with no roof rails for aesthetics, but it does get a shark fin antenna. The rear is probably the only place where the Discovery Sport looks a bit upright. The tail lights are outlined by sleek LED elements. The Discovery lettering sits below the windowline, while the Sport wordmark sits alongside the numberplate. The bumper gets a silver skid plate. 

In terms of exterior colour options, there are five shades to choose from: Varesine Blue, Eiger Grey, Firenze Red, Santorini Black, and Fuji White. All these shades come with a black dual tone roof.

Just like most Land Rover’s the design of the Discovery Sport is minimalistic. It sports a dual tone Light Oyster and Ebony theme, which extends to the leather seats. The three-spoke steering wheel gets buttons on a piano black panel, and is wrapped in leather. 

The laptop-screen like infotainment system protrudes out of the middle of the dashboard, while the central console itself looks very clean and uninterrupted.

In the second row, the seats slide and recline manually, which helps improve comfort and space over long trips.

Features

Some of the features on the Land Rover Discovery Sport include an 11.4-inch curved Pivi Pro infotainment touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a panoramic glass roof, 12-way driver and 10-way powered passenger seat with 2-way manual headrests, memory function for the driver seat, wireless phone charger, keyless entry, powered tailgate, auto headlights, and a Meridian sound system.

With a five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP, the Land Rover Discovery Sport impresses in a controlled environment. On-paper too, the SUV boasts a lot of safety features like multiple airbags (including front, side head, and side chest), rear ISOFIX mounts, traction control, hill-hold assist, ABD with EBD, an electronic parking brake, dynamic stability control (DSC), tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and front and rear parking sensors with a 360-degree surround view camera.

Inside the boot of the Discovery Sport, you get 157-litres of space behind the third row. Fold the last row down, and you get 1046-litres. The 5-seater version has a boot space of 1,179-litres.

Furthermore, you can even fold the second row down, after which, you get 1,794-litres of space in the 5-seater version and 1,651-litres of space in the 5+2 version.

The 2025 Land Rover Discovery Sport is available in two powertrain options: 2-litre mild-hybrid diesel and 2-litre mild-hybrid petrol. Both the engine options get an 9-speed automatic transmission, which sends power to all four wheels (all-wheel drive system).

The 2025 Land Rover Discovery is available in a single Dynamic SE variant, which can be had with either a petrol or diesel engine option.
