What is the latest update on the BMW 5-Series?

BMW launched the eight-generation 5 Series in India at Rs 72.9 lakh (ex-showroom). It is offered in a single 530Li variant and can be opted with a sole turbo-petrol engine. The 5 Series comes in the long-wheelbase version for the first time, and offers an upmarket interior as well as several top-notch convenience and safety features.

The BMW 5-Series is loaded to the brim with premium amenities such as a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 18-speaker Bowers and Wilkins sound system, dual wireless phone chargers, a digital key, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, four-zone climate control, a head-up display, a panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated front seats and multi-colour ambient lighting.

The 5-Series is offered with a single petrol engine:

• 2-litre turbo-petrol engine: This engine makes 258 PS and 400 Nm, and is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. It drives the rear wheels and has a 0-100 kmph time of 6.5 seconds.  

What is the mileage of the BMW 5-Series?

The BMW 5-Series offers a claimed mileage of 15.7 kmpl. However, one can expect the fuel efficiency to be in single digits, especially in city driving conditions.

The BMW 5-Series has not been tested by either Bharat NCAP or Global Ncap. However, it has been tested by Euro NCAP, where it secured a commendable 5 star safety rating. The BMW 5 Series comes with a commendable safety net which features such as electronic stability control, a 360-degree camera, multiple airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, a tyre pressure monitoring system, front and rear parking sensors and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) features.
