Renault Captur: Flashy Styling Disguises Lack Of Features

I saw the Renault Captur in the mall the other day and there?s no doubt that it looks outlandish in the compact SUV segment. I later researched about it and came to know that it shares its platform with the Duster. Surprisingly, Renault is promoting that they've sold this many Captures till date, however, the Captur in Europe is a totally different offering compared to the one sold here. As the former uses the platform of a hatchback. Renault has made sure that its exterior will stand out with full-LED headlamps and flashy wheels, but its interior does not resonate the same. First off, it uses the same 7-inch resistive type touchscreen that is available with the Kwid as well and has given a fancy marketing name to it, ?ULC? ?! No Apple CarPlay or Google Android Auto in a Rs 10 lakh + vehicle, seriously? What were you thinking Renault? Also, it only has four airbags, while even a Ford Figo offers up to six-airbags in its top-spec variant. And weirdly, the four airbags equipped model is only limited to its diesel version. Though I?ve not driven it, the petrol engine appears to be sluggish with just over 100PS. Renault should?ve introduced a turbocharged engine with the Captur in India like it offers in the Duster and the Captur in Europe. Also, there are no automatics on offer not even with the petrol, despite the Duster offers the same with both the fuel options.

    Absolutely Phenomenal machine.

Brilliant ride quality, handling, and suspension. Creta is just a fancy toy. Captur is miles ahead of the Creta and rivals.
