New 2014 Porsche Panamera Gets Plugin Hybrid and new Engine
Porsche will display its sports-car the 2014 Panamera at the Shanghai Auto Show this month. The four-door super-car looks similar to the existing model but now comes equipped with a Plugin Hybrid and Stretch-wheel base options. The company has tried hard to make it a more eco-friendly or greener and has replaced the hefty V8 engine with a 3.0L V6 twin-turbo engine for the S and 4S versions.
The new Panamera has come up with slight changes both at the front and rear exteriors. The sports car has now received a redesigned front bumper, and the appearance has been restyled on lines of the 911 design cues. The rear of the new car gets LED treatment and cosmetic changes to distinguished it from the current model.
The company has mainly changed the car mechanically. The new Plugin Hybrid with an electric motor and a 9.5KWh lithium-ion battery pack that is capable of generating 416bhp and a top torque of 590Nm. Paired to an eight-speed Tiptronic transmission, the S E-Hybrid will sprints from 0 to 100kmph in just 5.2 seconds. Both S and 4S models of Panamera will be powered by a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 engine delivering 420bhp and improving the overall efficiency by 18 per cent.
Porsche, fully owned VW subsidiary will also introduced an acknowledged long-wheelbase variant, though this version will not sport a plug-in hybrid option.
