Maruti Swift Dzire offering discounts; 'Hyundai Xcent' effect?
Maruti Swift Dzire has been for quite some time compared to the recently launched Hyundai Xcent and Honda Amaze (last year). The increasing sales of Amaze and the booming waiting period of the Xcent has definitely affected the Dzire sales – which was once the lone contender in sub-compact sedan arena. In one of the daily today the company advertised Dzire with heavy discount of 48 thousand – is it the 'Xcent effect'? The sub-4m meter space is getting crowded,Tata Zest launch is expected to happen in few months, Figo compact sedan will hit next year. Other manufacturer like VW and Nissan are also eying on this segment. Lets quickly compare the three in terms of pricing.

The Xcent starts at 4,65,988 INR for the base petrol while the top of the petrol SX (optional) comes in at 7,22,491 INR. The 1.1 U2 CRDI diesel comes in at 5,56,895 INR for the base diesel and SX (optional) in diesel drives in for 7,41,961 INR. Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire 1.2 K12 petrol motor variants starts at 4,85,162 INR for LXI and range topping ZXI lands at 6,31514 INR. The 1.3 liter DDiS (MJD diesel) LDI (base) variant costs 5,78,583 INR and the ZDI for diesel 7,32,284. The Amaze petrol 1.2 i-VTEC starts from 4,99,900 INR for the base E variant while the range topper VX lands at 7,55,000 INR. The 1.5 liter i-DTEC E variant costs 5,97,500 INR and the VX for 7,49,500 INR.
The Xcent petrol base variant is the least expensive when compared all the three, while the top of the line petrol is below Amaze but Dzire's ZXI model is under 6 lakh. Xcent top end comes in at Rs 7.22 lakh, the increased price for the top of line variant lies in the fact that it offers features like reverse parking camera, rear AC vents, engine-start smart key, one gigabyte of internal storage audio unit, fully automatic climate control. None of the mentioned features are present in any of the two (except automatic AC in Dzire). All the three offer AT box in petrol variant. The diesel Xcent is also competitively priced compared to other two with same features of the petrol. Most powerful and efficient engines are in Honda Amaze, Xcent and Dzire also offer superior engines but Xcent is feature loaded, newer in design while Dzire offers extensive country wide service.
