Jaguar F-Type Coming in Mid-2013

After a successful 2012, Jaguar Land Rover has began the New Year with the addition of assembly of its entry-level sedan XF at its Pimpri plant. Also, they have introduced a smaller engine on the XF, which further reduces the cost of the product. The company plans to introduce several new products and their derivatives this year. For this, we have a quick 5 with one of the company’s spokesperson Del Sehmar, Head of PR & Communications, JLR India on this thoughts.

Q1) What is the response you have received since the launch of the new Range Rover in India?

The All-New Range Rover has been received very well in India and we are pleased to say that cars have now been delivered to a number of customers.

Q2) We are sure that the sales of XF would have seen a boost since its assembly began this year. How is the response for the 2.2?

We recognised the need to introduce a locally built Jaguar product and due to the popularity of the XF in India, it was an obvious choice. The car is now priced at INR 44.5 lacs (ex showroom Mumbai pre octroi) and this enables us to reach out to a broader customer base. The XF 2.2. diesel comes with an array of standard features such as rear view camera, TV Tuner, navigation System, front passenger seat away, touch screen, gear shifting paddles, full size spare wheel, electric sunroof, rear screen electric blind, electric front seat away and eight-speed automatic transmission.
The response to the XF 2.2 litre diesel has been fantastic and we feel it gives customers a great value product that is well suited to India.

Q3) How many new products or their derivatives could be seen by India this year?

For Land Rover, we recently introduced the All-New Range Rover - the worlds most capable SUV. We will soon introduce the refreshed Freelander which will be built at our Pune facility.

For Jaguar, we just launched the Jaguar XJ Ultimate - the most luxurious Jaguar ever. The All-New 2 seater sports car, the F-TYPE will be launched at around mid year. In addition, there will be further derivatives and products this year.

Q4) How many more new dealerships can we see in the near future?

We now have 17 outlets in 15 cities and have plans to increase this further.

Q5) Do we see more products being assembled in India this year?

We will continue to look at business opportunities to expand our product offering in India and locally built cars are part of that strategy.
