Peugeot, part of the PSA Group, is a French automaker. The company started off as a family business that manufactured bicycles and coffee mills. It built its first automobile in 1889 - a steam tricycle. The company came to limelight after World War II and managed to build a reputation of developing beautiful and well-built cars. It also has a rich motorsport heritage and has won five World Rally Championships, seven Dakar Rally races, and three 24 Hours of Le Mans events. In the passenger vehicle segment, Peugeot currently has a diverse international portfolio, ranging from small hatchbacks to large people carriers. In India, the company has entered into a contract with the CK Birla Group to use the latter's manufacturing facility, which was formerly used to develop the Hindustan Motors Ambassador.
