Tata is on a path of rejuvenation since a couple of years. After the Auto Expo 2014, all the products that Tata has launched are nowhere related to what we have seen before from the homegrown brand. Look at the Zest and Bolt, both the vehicles offer some of the best in class features, overall quality has soared up and aesthetically they are the best in the segment especially the Zest, if not the Bolt. Moreover, with the launch of Zest and Bolt, Tata has also introduced a lot of ‘NEXT’ stuff in their rejuvenation strategy - HORIZONEXT, things like - DESIGNEXT, CONNECTNEXT, DRIVENEXT, etc . And you will get to see these in all the upcoming cars including facelift, like they recently did with the 2015 Safari Storme. Let us see what Tata has in stores for near future.

Tata Kite Hatchback and Compact Sedan

Codenamed as ‘Kite’, both the cars will be replacing the aging Indica and Indigo eCS. However, Tata might keep them for the fleet purpose but the new cars are developed keeping in mind for personal use. Speaking of their designs, both the cars are currently under test and had been spied numerous time. Off lately, Zica is the name given to the Tata hatch. Once revealed, they will look like no other Tata cars till date in their respective segment, similar to what the Zest and the Bolt were after following Tata’s DesigNext design philosophy. Also, the interiors will be brand new coupled with Bluetooth-enabled Tata ConnectNext audio system powered by Harman along with other goodies.

Reportedly, Kite duos will have new engines both 3-cylinder petrol and diesel. The petrol will be the naturally aspirated 1.2-liter three-cylinder motor mustering 75 bhp and will fall in the Revotron family of engines. While the diesel will be 1.05-liter turbocharged motor, producing close to 70 bhp. Expect the hatch to launch first, later this year followed by the compact sedan.

Tata Hexa

Tata Hexa will probably be the last try Tata is making with the Aria and it look largely different compared to the outgoing Aria. Tata showcased Hexa concept at this year’s Geneva Motor Show and came with both stylistic and major mechanical upgrades. When launched, it will be priced somewhat similar to the current Aria price band!

Mechanically, the 2.2-liter VARICOR will get an uprate - power will bump to 155 PS while torque will soar to a blistering 400 Nm (making it highest in the segment)! Apart from the manual, Tata will also offer optional 6-speed automatic, which will be reportedly sourced from GMPT or General Motors Powertrain, a division of General Motors Corporation. Moreover, it will be more feature-loaded than the Aria and the overall quality will also go up. The production-spec vehicle is expected to be on display at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo in Feb.

Tata Nexon

Tata will foray into the sub-4m compact SUV arena with the Nexon, its concept version was displayed at the last year’s Auto Expo. And like the Hexa, Tata might display the production-spec version at the coming Auto Expo in Feb 2016. The vehicle is sub-4m and will majorly rival Ford EcoSport. Mechanically, expect it to be powered by Revotron and Fiat borrowed MultiJet diesel engines.
