February 24, 2014: Maruti Suzuki Celerio has been receiving an overwhelming response from car buyers across the nation. The vehicle has registered an over 14,000 bookings withing 2 weeks from launch- making it 1000 units a day. Its AMT version accounts for around 51 per cent of total bookings. Maruti Celerio comes as a replacement for the A-Star and Estilo hatchbacks in India. The Celerio with AMT returns an impressive mileage of 23.1kmpl. Under the hood, the hatchback gets the 1.0-litre K-Series petrol engine that develops 67bhp of power and 90Nm of torque.
February 10, 2014: Maruti Suzuki unveiled its Swift Sport, a sportier version of its Swift model at the Auto Expo 2014. Recently launched in Indonesia, it has a more aggressive look with new grille and finned fog-lamp bezels, high-intensity discharge headlamps with a metallic-Grey coating and the newly designed rear combination lamps with a cylindrical design. It comes with a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder mill that renders a maximum power of 100PS at 6900RPM and 160Nm of top torque at 4,400RPM, taking just 8.7 seconds to reach 0-100kmph with a top speed of 193kmph and a 15.625kmpl fuel economy. Some of its excellent features include ABS (anti-lock braking system) with EBD (electronic brakeforce distribution), ESP, driver knee airbags, HID projector headlights with headlamps washers, automatic headlights, power folding wing mirrors, keyless entry with engine start button, stainless steel sport pedals and Bluetooth compatible music system.
February 27, 2014 : Honda Car India has finally started the deliveries of petrol City sedan. Earlier, with the launch of new City, the company had announced the deliveries for the diesel variant to begin immediately after its launch. While, the surprising element when it declared the petrol version to arrive by this February. Though, this being a strategically defined move of the company was intended to make way for the diesel City in the market. The diesel powered City gets a 1.5-litre i-DTEC powertrain producing max power of 98.6bhp and top torque of 200Nm. While, the petrol comes with a 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine developing 117bhp of top power and 460Nm of top torque.
September 7, 2013: Ford India that launched the compact SUV EcoSport in India in June this year at a very competitive pricing, has now increased the prices of all its variants. Depreciating Rupee value has been said to be the reason behind the price hike. EcoSport prices have now been increased by Rs 30,000 to Rs. 40,000, making the base 1.5-litre petrol Ambiente cost Rs 5.82 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) . The top-end variant's price has now gone up by around Rs 37,000, while the 1.0-litre EcoBoost Optional variant now costs Rs. 38,000 higher.
February 14, 2014: Renault India has finally rolled out the Adventure Edition of its compact SUV Duster at Rs. 12.18 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi). Renault Duster Adventure Edition is available with 110PS trim only and it is more of a 110PS RxL variant with some added features. The added features are smoked headlights, door side sill, new alloy wheels, Adventure Decal on Tallgate D-Pillar, front with lamps, wheel arch cladding, side body moulding, lime green Seat fabric upholstery and door trim fabric insert, piano black finish on the center console and steering wheel, and metal finish grab handle are a few to mention. Mechanically, the vehicle is still the same.
November 7, 2013: Hyundai has launched the automatic variant in the Grand i10 line up in petrol fuel trim. The automatic Grand i10 is now available in two trim levels- Sportz and Asta. Former is priced at Rs. 5.95 lakhs, while the latter one costs around Rs. 6.23 Lakhs ( ex. showroom, Mumbai). Both these variants are locked up with a four-speed automatic gearbox. The petrol model is powered by a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder Kappa engine that churns out a maximum power output of 82bhp and 115Nm of top torque. Speculations are rife that Hyundai may also bring an automatic variant in diesel fuel trim too.
January 15, 2014: Honda has added an another variant in its mid-sized sedan Amaze's line-up. The newly added variant is termed as 'SX' and it is priced at Rs. 6.22 Lakh and Rs. 7.12 Lakh in petrol and diesel guises, respectively. The company has placed it just above the 'S' variant as it comes loaded with several new safety features like front dual airbags, ABS etc. It retains the same 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel mill that churns out a power of 98bhp while petrol variant gets powered by a 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine that belts out 84bhp. The complete range of the Amaze has been expanded and is available in 12 variants - E, EX, S, SX (New) & VX (Petrol and Diesel) and S AT & VX AT (Petrol only).
May 2, 2013: India's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki celebrated the fifth anniversary of its flagship compact sedan, Swift Dzire in style. MSI invited over 62 customers with their familes to take part in Mumbai. The Dzirable Mileage Rally celebration was held in 31 cities across the country last weekend. Mr. Gurdeep singh was given the crown for achieving the best mileage of 45.8kmpl in the diesel category, while Mr. Shrirang Chindarkar won in the petrol category by achieving 42.1kmpl mileage.
February 7, 2014: Auto Expo 2014 today witnessed the launch of 2014 Ford Figo at a price tag of Rs. 3.97 lakhs (Ex-showroom Delhi). The car gets no change mechanically, while the 1.4 Litre Duratorq diesel engine and 1.2 Litre Duratech petrol engine serve under the hood. However, the car gets subtle changes in the exteriors and interiors, raising the grace and comfort level of the car. The revamped Figo gets first in class Wi-fi feature that ensures wi-fi availability to all five passengers.
February 10, 2014: Mahindra & Mahindra unveiled the hybrid version of its XUV500 at the Indian Auto Expo 2014. The new XUV500 Hybrid, the first manual diesel hybrid vehicle in the world, has become 18 per cent more fuel efficient than its predecessor. It comes with a permanent magnet synchronous motor and lithium ion battery. Its conventional engine is coupled with an electric motor, ensuring a better fuel economy.
28th-Mar-2012: Hyundai India has finally slipped in the next generation Hyundai i20 priced at Rs 4.73 lakh . The i-Gen i20, available in 12 variants comes in both petrol and diesel variants. The i20 petrol variants range from Rs 4.73 lakh to Rs 6.65 lakh; the diesel variants range from Rs 5.96 lakh to Rs 7.44 lakh and the automatic variant is priced at Rs 7.67 lakh. A new refined 1.2 Kappa petrol engine with Dual VTVT mechanism is seen on-board now which delivers 84 Ps of peak power. The diesel variants now are affixed with fresh 1.4 litre CRDi diesel engine with 6-speed manual transmission. The automatic petrol variant Hyundai i20 Sportz delivers 100 Ps power and 13.9 kg-m of torque. Rear Parking Camera with display in the cabin mirror, Electro Chromic Mirror, Clean Air-Cluster ionizer, Auto Headlight Control Function, 6 Airbags, Rear Disc Brakes, Supervision Cluster and Rain Sensing Wipers are the segment first features debuted in 2012 Hyundai i20.
June 15, 2013: Maruti Suzuki India has today launched the CNG version of its famous MPV Ertiga called the 'Ertiga Green'. The CNG version has been made available in two variants priced at Rs 6.52 lakh and Rs 7.30 lakh. With Ertiga Green, Maruti Suzuki India now has a total 6 vehicles with factory fitted CNG kits. The Ertiga CNG also becomes the second vehicle to have all three fuel options (Petrol, Diesel, CNG), the other vehicle is SX4. The factory-fitted CNG Ertiga ensures consistently high performance and a driving experience thanks to the contemporary i-GPI (intelligent-Gas Port Injection) technology. Thei-GPI technology uses a Dual Engine Control Unit that delivers calibrated quantity of fuel to the engine, leading to more efficient fuel usage and consistent high performance.
October 5, 2013: Toyota India has today launched the updated Toyota Innova, which has gone through some changes both inside and out. However, among all the trims, only GX and VX trims have received changes, while the E and G Grade remain all the same in both BS III & BS IV. Also, Toyota has introduced a new top-end Z Grade, which has been priced at Rs 15.06 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Innova facelift features a bigger chrome grille with three horizontal slats, updated front bumper, new airdam with redesigned fog lamps, a sporty rear spoiler, body graphics with stylish chrome finish muffler cutter. The car has also received some interior changes like stylish wood finished gear knob, an elegant wood panel dashboard and a wooden armrest panel. Moreover, it gets dual tone seats with leather trim, which further enhances the interior feel.
December 27, 2013: Mahindra & Mahindra, India's leading SUV maker is planning to launch the Scorpio facelift in the country by the end of first quarter of 2014. Speculations are on rife that the homegrown manufacturer will unveil the SUV at the next year's Indian Auto Expo. The vehicle has already been spotted several times during its test rounds on the Indian streets. The 2014 Scorpio facelift will get new headlamps, revised front bumper with prominent creases, new grille, revised taillamps, new rear bumper and tailgate. Inside the cabin, it features a restyled dashboard, new upholstery, updated centre console and new steering wheel. The SUV continue to be powered by the same 2.2-litre mHawK diesel engine producing 120bhp, but it will be tuned to offer better performance and efficiency.
February 27, 2014 : Hyundai India brings in a new CX trim to its most celebrated sedan, Hyundai Verna. With this, the company opens wide range to choose from, as the variant comes with both 1.4-litre petrol and diesel engines. The petrol variant is priced at Rs. 8.07 lakh and diesel costs Rs. 9.28 lakh. The new trim is positioned in between EX and SX variants, and gets almost every feature required to be with the mid variant. The CX variant comes equipped with all major safety features like Anti-lock braking system, rear disc brakes, airbags, rear view camera and parking sensors. It also features steering mounted audio controls, climate control and particularly diamond cut alloy wheels as standard. With certain changes, Hyundai kind of refreshes its line up with adding an automatic gearbox to 1.6SX trim and discontinues the EX base and 1.6 EX automatic variants. The top of the line SX (O) trim gets side and curtain airbags and speed sensing door locks.
September 13, 2013:Volkswagen India has now finally rolled out the much anticipated new Polo GT TDI for Rs. 8.08 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is now a more powerful version of the car, capable of churning out the maximum power output of 103bhp. Powering the vehicle is a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, which makes the Polo GT TDI the most powerful diesel hatchback in its segment, in fact better than several entry level sedans being sold in the country. What goes in favour of the Polo GT TDI other than the class-leading power and performance, is its ARAI certified 19.78kmpl of mileage.
September 16, 2013: In a bid to keep the sales momentum going for the company's flagship hatchback WagonR, Maruti Suzuki India has now launched 'Madhavan Signature Edition WagonR'. Endorsed by the WagonR's brand Ambassador R Madhavan, this special edition has been launched with 12 new features at an additional cost of Rs 20,000 on the regular version. Also, the buyers will get discount vouchers of worth Rs 5,100 and an additional 0.5% discount on the interest rate to be paid. October 7, 2013: To celebrate the first anniversary of Alto 800, Maruti Suzuki India has introduced a special Anniversary Edition of the car at Rs 3.12 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is basically the Alto 800 LXI variant, on which new features have been added like new body graphics, blacked out B-pillar, new seat upholstery, body coloured side mirror, body side molding and rear parcel tray. The company has also offered a special Purple Haze body colour for the Anniversary edition; also, the company has also offered Audio system as an option.
6 November, 2012 : Hyundai Eon, the arch rival of Maruti’s bestseller, Maruti Alto is going to be upgraded soon. The hatch was launched in the year 2011; the pricing,quality and feature richness are the USP factors of the Hyundai Eon still the hatch could not beat its arch rival Maruti Alto. So, in order to make the Eon more alluring and clock in more sales the company is planning to launch a newfangled version of the car which is going to be available somewhere around June,2013. The new hatch is going to be aggressively marketed in order to drive its sales and help Eon get the share of limelight and be in the bestsellers list where the car should have been. Only time will tell if the market and the consumers is swayed by the forthcoming refreshed version of Hyundai Eon.
February 5, 2014: The facelifted version of Chevrolet Beat has been introduced at the Indian Auto Expo 2014. Changes can be noticed in its exteriors, including new front bumper, redesigned grille as well as fog lamps, new alloy wheels and revised rear spoiler. The inside of the car has not been changed much, other than few cosmetic updates at the center console, new upholstery seats and central rear height-adjustable headrest. The engine configuration has remained the same - a 1.2-liter petrol (also available with LPG) and a 1.0-liter diesel engine for the respective variants. The petrol engine delivers a top power of 79.4bhp and 108Nm of top torque; the diesel mill belts out a maximum power of 57.6bhp and top torque of 150Nm. Both the engines are mated with a five-speed manual transmission gearbox, which transmits power to front wheels.
25 May, 2012 : Mahindra Bolero, the flagship Sports utility vehicle from homegrown manufacturer Mahindra has clocked in 1, 00,686 units in FY 2011-12 registering a 21% increase. Bolero was once again bestowed with the highest selling SUV title in India for the sixth consecutive year; also this was the highest annual sales garnered by the Bolero since it came into being. In March 2012, only the SUV managed 10,026 unit sales which is also the highest ever monthly sales till now. Mahindra Bolero sold 83,112 units of sales in 2010-11 FY. M&M’s Bolero has risen up to the seventh position in the top selling passenger vehicles in India in FY 2011-12 from the 9th position it had in the year 2010-11. Noticeably Mahindra Bolero is the only SUV to feature in the top selling passenger vehicles in India.
October 9, 2013: Nissan India has finally launched the Terrano SUV in India for Rs. 9.58 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai). The Terrano is based on the highly popular Duster, however, the company has made enough changes to make it look different and refresh. While, the front facade of the SUV gets new bumper, an all-new grille and headlamps, the rear sports a new tail-lights. The Terrano is powered by the same 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine with two power outputs - 84bhp and 109bhp. The single petrol variant of the SUV gets the same 1.6-litre powertrain. It will compete against the likes of Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster and Mahindra Scorpio.
September 24, 2013: Hyundai India has stopped selling the i10 hatch with 1.2-litre Kappa2 petrol engine, that powers the two top end variants of i10 - the Sportz and Asta. The vehicle is now available in two variants - the Era and Magna. These models are powered by the 1.1-litre iRDE engine that churns out maximum output power of 68bhp and 99Nm of peak torque. With the discontinuation of the two top-end models, the automatic transmission option will also be removed from the i10 lineup. The pricing of the top-of-the line i10 models were getting too close to the Grand line up, which has forced the company to take such a decision.
October 21, 2013: Toyota Kirloskar Motor has introduced the Fortuner TRD Sportivo - Limited Edition for Rs. 24,26,247/- (ex showroom Delhi). The limited edition will be limited to 400 units, and will be sold till the month of December 2013. It will be available in the 4x4 MT variant and comes equipped with several features, which makes it look more sporty. The Fortuner TRD Sportivo Limited Edition gets aerodynamically designed dual tone front and rear bumper spoiler, TRD engraved sporty side body strips, rear roof spoiler, radiator grille with TRD emblem and rear TRD Sportivo badge. It will be available in two colors - Super White and Silver Mica Metallic.
September 30, 2013: Maruti Suzuki India has silently introduced the Alto k10 musiK Edition in the Indian car market. It is basically a limited edition vehicle, which is launched to attract buyers and improve the sales during the festive season. The musiK Edition of the Alto K10 comes with 10 additional features. As the name suggests, the vehicle gets more components related to music such as JVC MP3 player with USB and four inch front speakers. The vehicle also gets body graphics, rear spoiler, mud flaps, ambient lighting, new seat covers, steering cover and universal mats. The company hasn't revealed the pricing details of the hatchback, but it is likely to be priced slightly higher than the standard model.
