September 2, 2014: Hyundai India is overwhelmed with the success of Elite i20 and there's every reason to be, Elite i20 garnered 15,300 bookings in mere 20 days of it's launch. Speaking about the pricing, the Elite i20 is priced at Rs. 4.89 lakh for base petrol while diesel starts at Rs 6.09 lakh (all Ex-Showroom New Delhi prices). Mechanically, the car remains unchanged apart from skimping the 1.4 liter petrol; on offer now is a 1.2-liter petrol engine and 1.4-litre diesel unit. Petrol trims are mated to a five speed manual while diesel packs a sportier six-speed manual.
August 12, 2014 : Tata Motors has launched its compact sedan Zest today on August 12, 2014 at a price tag of Rs. 4.64 lakh (petrol) and Rs. 5.64 lakh (diesel). Zest being a compact sedan will lock horns with Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire, Honda Amaze and recently launched Hyundai Xcent. The production of Zest has already started at Ranjangaon plant in Maharashtra with Fiat. The dealers have already started to take bookings of the compact sedan with an upfront payment of INR 21,000 for both petrol and diesel. Apart from the sporty looks from the Tata's debutante 'DESIGNEXT' design philosophy, Zest gets several first-in-class features like tailor-made 5-inch HARMAN touchscreen infotainment system, projector headlamps, day-time-running-LEDs, LED tail lamps and multi-drive modes (ECO, SPORTS, CITY).
September 20, 2014 : Honda Mobilio has attracted more than 20,000 bookings in a span of two months of its launch. The Japanese manufacturer already retailed more than 8890 units in July and August. While recenlty, Honda Mobilio adds two new trims to the existing variants of the MPV, a new top-of-the-line trim for both petrol and diesel – V(O) at a price of 9.46 lakh (petrol) and 10.45 lakh (diesel) and the diesel-only – RS(O) costs 11.55 lakh (All prices ex-showroom New Delhi). Adding to this, now Mobilio has a total of 10 variants, namely, E,S,V and new-top-end V(O) (both for diesel and petrol) while diesel apart from this adds another two RS and RS(O). These variants adds a larges 15.7cm touch screen infotainment system with built-in voice guided navigation and it also doubles up as reverse parking camera screen. Apart from this the new trims gets faux wood inserts on the dashboard and front door armrests.
September 20, 2014: In consideration to the upcoming festive season, Maruti Suzuki has brought the Swift Silver Plus Limited Edition. The hatch now embraces, new special edition neck pillows along with back cushion while the seats are upholstered in premium fabric with steering cover. The special edition also gets Sony stereo and speaker system along with a mobile holder that is itself a charger. On the outside, Swift Silver Plus edition offers reverse parking sensors. These added accessories costs Rs. 31,745 but Maruti is offering these at Rs. 27,500 with a benefit of Rs. 4245. Moreover, the production plant at Manesar has crossed 25 lakh production milestone and the 25,00,000 car rolling out production line was Maruti's one of the most successful model in history - Swift (Swift ZXI from Manesar B plant).
September 20, 2014: The French automaker's economical brand Dacia is planning to introduce Duster with a Renault's 1.2L Tce turbo petrol engine UK. Moreover, Renault India will launch the new Renault Duster AWD on 24th September. Apart from the new 4WD system it gets soft-touch dash, a new multi-function steering wheel, premium three-pot instrumentation cluster, sporty burnt red fabric upholstery and all-around AWD badging along with similar Duster Adventure treatment. Duster AWD features shift-on-fly all-wheel-drive system with three modes 2WD, Auto and 4WD Lock. Powering the Duster AWD is the 110PS version of 1.5 dCi mated to a six-speed manual. Renault Duster AWD will compete with Safari Storme 4x4 and Mahindra Scorpio 4X4.
August 19, 2014: Ford India celebrates another milestone with the EcoSport compact SUV; after bagging maximum no of awards (over 30 awards), the Chennai made compact SUV gets another milestone with over 100,000 sales mark (domestic wholesales and exports combined). Speaking about the Indian domestic sales, Ford India says that over 60,000 EcoSports are running on the Indian streets. The compact SUVs brilliant drivability, ruggedness, safety features and goodies on-board, helped it to lead the segment when it comes to sale and the vehicle bags a waiting period! The Chennai made compact SUV is exported to several parts of the world - South Africa, Taiwan, Australia and various European countries making Ford India as a world-class manufacturing hub.
September 20, 2014: To boost the sales ahead of festive season, Maruti Suzuki has brought the Swift DZire Regalia Limited Edition. New to the features are the Signature Leather Wrinkled Seat Covers, Attractive body graphics, reverse parking sensor, designer floor mats and interior styling kits. By opting this accessory kit, customers can save upto Rs 5010, as the Regalia Limited Edition Kit is worth Rs 13,800 while otherwise it would cost Rs 18,810. Furthermore, the competition in the compact sedan is increasing day by day and so Maruti Suzuki is now planning to bring the facelift of Swift DZire. The upgraded Swift DZire will now embrace majority of cosmetic upgrades such as increased chrome work with bold chrome slat at the front. Powering the DZire is the 1.2-litre K-Series petrol and 1.3-litre multijet diesel engines.
June 10, 2014: Honda has sold more that 88,000 units of Amaze in just a span of one year. The car was launched in April last year and since than it has been a huge sucess for the Japanese manufacturer. Honda Amaze is the company's first car to be launched with a diesel engine. The car carries a 1.5 litre i-DTEC engine and chruns a power of 98.6bhp while the petrol model houses 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine which develops a power of 86.8bhp. Company claims that the diesel model delivers a fuel economy of 25.8kmpl. Currently, the company has 172 facilities across 109 cities while it intends to increase them to 230 facilities across 150 cities.
July 24, 2014 : Honda Car India is getting an overwhelming response from their new Honda City. The mid-size sedan is attracting a maximum waiting period of six month. Speaking in this context, the waiting period varies according to cities and also depends on the engine trim & variant plus colour option too. The petrol is attracting 2-4 months waiting period while the diesel being the popular one attracts 4-5 months. The CVT petrol and sunroof variant of diesel and petrol are witnessing 6 months delay.
August 19, 2014: Maruti Suzuki's new 793cc diesel engine is all set to hit the Indian market. The Celerio is the first hatchback to get 0.8-litre diesel engine and at the moment it is undergoing its final stage of testing in Japan. The Celerio and a new commercial vehicle from Suzuki will be available with this new diesel engine. Maruti Suzuki Celerio will come with three trims, LDi, VDi and ZDi. The VDi will come with an option of ABS too. This is Suzuki's first in-house developed diesel engine and it will be the smallest diesel engine in India. The 793cc diesel engine will churn about 50bhp of power and it will be coming with common rail diesel technology.
May 6, 2014 : Hyundai India launched Eon Magna+ at Rs 3.83 lakh (Ex-showroom,New Delhi) . The exterior remains same while inside the cabin, Magna+ features dual tone interiors in beige and brown colour scheme along with addition of music system with USB and AUX connectivity. Mechanically, the car in-houses latest Dual VTVT technology as it carries 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine that musters a maximum power output of 68bhp and peak torque of 94Nm at 3500 rpm. The engine is coupled to a five speed manual transmission and the hatch delivers a fuel economy of 20.3 Kmpl (ARAI Certified).
September 3, 2014: Hyundai is celebrating its first anniversary of Grand i10 and to mark the occasion, the Korean car maker has introduced the ‘SportZ Edition’. The Grand i10 was launched in September 2013 and it already has over 1.1 lakh happy owners in India. The Grand ‘SportZ Edition’ gets the 14-inch diamond cut alloy wheels as a standard, the other list of features include bluetooth connectivity, steering mounted audio and leather wrap on steering wheel, rear spoiler, B-Pillar blackout along with body graphics. The interiors too have been upgraded with fabric upholstery and crafted in tones of red. The SportZ is available with both 1.2-litre petrol and 1.1-litre U2 diesel engines.
May 7, 2014 : Toyota Kirloskar launched the New Etios Cross with base variant Etios Cross G priced at Rs 5,76,000/- (ex showroom Delhi) . With the arrival of New Etios Cross, the model line up of Etios family extends. The vehicle is available in four variants with three powerful engine options 1.5 L & 1.2 L Petrol engine and 1.4L D-4D Diesel powertrains. The petrol model churns power in two figures viz 88 bhp and 78.9 bhp while the diesel model generates 67bhp. In terms of safety, the car comes equipped with dual front SRS airbags, ABS with EBD. It boasts rugged looks with all black plastic cladding around its exteriors.
September 19, 2014: Mahindra has started taking bookings of the new Scorpio on an eCommerce website SnapDeal. The launch of the facelifted Scorpio is scheduled on 25th of September. The SUV is coming with major stylistic and mechanical upgrades.The new Scorpio is receiving a fresh new face along with modern day add-ons like day-time-runnings-LEDs, it is also getting LED taillamps. The overall profile of the vehicle is same but features subtle tweaks. New generation Scorpio is also receiving a brand new dashboard, touchscreen infotainment system along with a XUV500 borrowed steering wheel. Scorpio facelift is getting the current 2.2 liter mHwak motor but Mahindra has reportedly upgraded the engine to extract more power and torque also with bettered fuel efficiency. The chassis is also heavily altered for improved ride and handling. The base variant of Scorpio continues to carry m2DiCr motor.
July 15, 2014 : Maruti Suzuki India launched the limited edition version of its seven seater MPV Ertiga at INR 6.76 lakh for Petrol model while the CNG and Diesel models are priced at INR 7.34 lakh and 8.05 lakh respectively. The Limited Edition features trendy Limited Edition body decals and graphics, Rear spoiler, New paint shade of Pearl Blaze blue. The interior showcases the wooden trim on instrument panel, reverse parking sensor with digital display. The engine specification of this Limited Edition is carried from the outgoing models.
August 6, 2014: Maruti Suzuki has introduced a limited edition of Alto 800 christened as 'Alto 800 Maximum'. This limited edition adorns features such as ART leather seat covers, side moldings, keyless entry, rear roof spoiler, attractive body graphics and side decals. The heart throbbing car of Indian middle class recently witnessed ‘2,50,000 ALTOs on the road'. The most preferable iconic Maruti 800 has gone through constructive phase in terms of design and comfort which led to the evolution of the Alto 800. The new Alto 800 has been given the sporty touches on the exteriors and is now more spacious on the inside. With the phenomenal 796cc engine the car delivers a maximum power of 47.3bhp and a peak torque of 69Nm. September 22, 2014: Maruti Suzuki has launched a Limited Edition of its Wagon R hatchback. Named as Wagon R Krest, the special variant comes with some minor tweaks. Price of the model has been kept INR 22,500 above the standard model. Changes on the outside includes new front grille, limited edition body graphic and stylish wheel covers. While the interiors features new seat covers, steering wheel cover and carpet floor mats. The limited edition model also comes with a keyless central locking.
July 15, 2014: Volkswagen India has finally launched the much-awaited 2014 Polo facelift in India with a starting price of Rs 4.99 lakh. Following the showcasing at the Geneva Motor Show, the manufacturer has finally refreshed its premium hatch after its Indian debut about five years back. The car comes with an engine option of 1.2 MPi in petrol model and 1.5 TDI in diesel model. The automaker will launch the GT variants at the end of this month. Volkswagen Polo now sports Airbags as a standard feature while the ABS is available in all the models except the base variant.

July 31, 2014: Mahindra & Mahindra has sold over 1,00,000 units of its XUV500, since its introduction in 2011. The 1,00,000th unit of the SUV was sold about 33 months after the sales commenced. While the 50,000 units milestone was achieved in January last year. All the variants of XUV 500, come equipped with a 2.2-litre four-pot diesel engine, capable of 140 bhp and 330 Nm of peak torque. The unit comes mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, sending power to the front wheels, or to all wheels in case of the AWD model.
September 15,2014: Ford India has launched a refreshed Ford Figo ahead of the festive season, the new hatch starts at Rs. 3.87 lakh for petrol and Rs. 4.83 lakh for diesel (Ex-Showroom New Delhi). Changes are cosmetic like smoked gun-metal color alloys, chromed Figo badge on the front fender along with side reflectors on the out-side-rear-view-mirrors. On the inside, the kinetic Blue color Figo gets dashboard trim, door pull handles in a new 'Cyber Blue' shade. While the other shades gets satin-aluminium dashboard trim. Moreover, the refreshed car also features a new dual-tone seat upholstery. Mechanically, it remained unchanged sporting the same 1.4 TDCI Duratorq diesel and 1.2 Duratec petrol.
August 27, 2014: Hyundai Russia showcased the facelifted Verna (known as Solaris in Russia) at the ongoing Moscow International Auto Salon 2014 – MIAS 2014. The facelifted Verna is expected to launch early 2015 or by the end of this year in India, while the car has been previewed in Russia couple of months ago and is already on sale there. Mechanically, it gets the same powerplants while the petrol version gets a new 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic compared to current one's ancient 4-speed auto; expect similar alternations on the Indian update.
September 17, 2014: Hyundai India has appointed the Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan as the brand ambassador for it's compact sedan - Hyundai Xcent. Hyundai has also launched a new TV commercial for the Xcent featuring SRK, depicting their philosophy 'multiply your life'. Shah Rukh Khan has been endorsing Hyundai's product from the past 16 years, from Santro's to i10 and now Xcent. Mechanically, Xcent is powered by a Grand i10 borrowed diesel and petrol engines and sports several segment first features.
May 15, 2014: The seemingly gorgeous and feature packed Hyundai Grand i10 now gets rated for its stiffness and safety characteristics by the EuroNCAP. It grabs 4.5/5.0 in the crash test conducted by the highly acclaimed body EuroNCAP. Hyundai Grand i10 scores pretty good in terms of barrier test and absorbs all destructible forces with authority. The dummy readings showed good protection of all body parts and even the bumper provides good protection to pedestrians in case of any mishap. However, the Indian Hyundai Grand i10 lags behind American model in terms of safety airbags and ESP.
