September 7, 2013: Ford India that launched the compact SUV EcoSport in India in June this year at a very competitive pricing, has now increased the prices of all its variants. Depreciating Rupee value has been said to be the reason behind the price hike. EcoSport prices have now been increased by Rs 30,000 to Rs. 40,000, making the base 1.5-litre petrol Ambiente cost Rs 5.82 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) . The top-end variant's price has now gone up by around Rs 37,000, while the 1.0-litre EcoBoost Optional variant now costs Rs. 38,000 higher.
July 2, 2013: India's leading carmaker, Maruti Suzuki India has now launched a special edition version of its famous premium hatchback Swift called the “Swift RS ” in the country. To be sold in a limited number, Swift RS will be made available only in VXi (Petrol) and VDi (Diesel) variants with an extra sum of Rs. 24,500. The Swift RS has come up with several styling updates, which gives it a distinct sporty character and looks. It has now been offered with a signature RS 3-piece body kit that includes front and rear bumper enrichment and a roof spoiler. It also gets specifically designed black and blue motorsport inspired graphics, which enhances its sporty quotient. For the first time, black wheel covers are being introduced in the Swift RS. The outside rear view mirrors come in the signature theme colour of blue. The Swift RS is equipped with an illuminated Swift emblem at the sill on all four doors. Inside the cabin as well, it now has art leather black and blue coloured upholstery, which complement the RS signature graphic style on the exteriors. This special edition of Swift has a high-end music system with CD player, AUX-in and USB facility.
November 7, 2013: Hyundai has launched the automatic variant in the Grand i10 line up in petrol fuel trim. The automatic Grand i10 is now available in two trim levels- Sportz and Asta. Former is priced at Rs. 5.95 lakhs, while the latter one costs around Rs. 6.23 Lakhs ( ex. showroom, Mumbai). Both these variants are locked up with a four-speed automatic gearbox. The petrol model is powered by a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder Kappa engine that churns out a maximum power output of 82bhp and 115Nm of top torque. Speculations are rife that Hyundai may also bring an automatic variant in diesel fuel trim too.
October 9, 2013: Nissan India has finally launched the Terrano SUV in India for Rs. 9.58 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai). The Terrano is based on the highly popular Duster, however, the company has made enough changes to make it look different and refresh. While, the front facade of the SUV gets new bumper, an all-new grille and headlamps, the rear sports a new tail-lights. The Terrano is powered by the same 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine with two power outputs - 84bhp and 109bhp. The single petrol variant of the SUV gets the same 1.6-litre powertrain. It will compete against the likes of Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster and Mahindra Scorpio.
June 6, 2013: Japanese carmaker Honda Cars India that launched its first diesel car Amaze in India in April, has now hiked its prices by upto Rs. 8,000. Honda had revised the prices of City, Brio and Accord in April only, has now in the second price hike phase also increased the prices of CR-V. The CR-V prices have now gone up by Rs. 6,000-14,000, depending upon the variant. Honda Amaze has been doing quite decent for the company, in May 2013 sales, the Amaze accounted for more than half of the company's total sales, which helped Honda achieve the no. 4 position in the Indian car market.
December 2, 2013: The French automaker Renault has officially unveiled the Duster facelift, which will launch in the Indian car market as well. The exact launch date of the vehicle is yet to be announced, but we expect it to be showcased at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. It now features a dual-tone chrome grille, restyled headlamps with double-optic units and Daytime running lamps, new roof bars, revised tail lamps, redesigned scuff plates and chrome-tipped exhaust pipe. The interiors of the car looks similar to the regular model, but it gets a new instrument cluster, steering-integrated control and a new centre console with Renault's infotainment system. The facelift is expected to be powered by the same 1.5-litre k9k diesel and a 1.6-litre petrol mill. It is also expected to feature a new 1.2-litre TCe turbocharged petrol engine, which will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission.
November 6, 2013: Mahindra & Mahindra has silently introduced the entry level 'W4' model of its popular SUV, XUV500. It has been priced at Rs. 10.83 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The XUV500 W4 model is powered by a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that churns out a maximum power output of 140bhp and 330Nm of top torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission, which transmits power to front wheels. It accelerates to 60kmph from stand still in mere 5.4 seconds, and offers an impressive mileage of 15kmpl (ARAI Certified). The entry level model gets a range of technology, safety and comfort features such as projector headlamps with LEDs, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, all wheel disc brakes, twin HVAZ, power & tilt steering, power adjustable ORVMs, remote central locking and many more.
May 2, 2013: India's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki celebrated the fifth anniversary of its flagship compact sedan, Swift Dzire in style. MSI invited over 62 customers with their familes to take part in Mumbai. The Dzirable Mileage Rally celebration was held in 31 cities across the country last weekend. Mr. Gurdeep singh was given the crown for achieving the best mileage of 45.8kmpl in the diesel category, while Mr. Shrirang Chindarkar won in the petrol category by achieving 42.1kmpl mileage.
November 25, 2013: Honda City fourth generation has been finally unveiled, and this celebrated sedan gets an overwhelming response and anticipation. It has arrived in both petrol and diesel engine- 1.5-litre i-VTEC and 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine. It bounds to its 'Man Maximum and Machine Minimum' philosophy clubbed with advance techniques that has made the interiors more spacious than before. The new Honda City features longer wheelbase that measures 50mm more than previous one, which again contributes to roomy interiors. All New Honda City diesel has also been designed much taller than its previous generation model. 28th-Mar-2012: Hyundai India has finally slipped in the next generation Hyundai i20 priced at Rs 4.73 lakh . The i-Gen i20, available in 12 variants comes in both petrol and diesel variants. The i20 petrol variants range from Rs 4.73 lakh to Rs 6.65 lakh; the diesel variants range from Rs 5.96 lakh to Rs 7.44 lakh and the automatic variant is priced at Rs 7.67 lakh. A new refined 1.2 Kappa petrol engine with Dual VTVT mechanism is seen on-board now which delivers 84 Ps of peak power. The diesel variants now are affixed with fresh 1.4 litre CRDi diesel engine with 6-speed manual transmission. The automatic petrol variant Hyundai i20 Sportz delivers 100 Ps power and 13.9 kg-m of torque. Rear Parking Camera with display in the cabin mirror, Electro Chromic Mirror, Clean Air-Cluster ionizer, Auto Headlight Control Function, 6 Airbags, Rear Disc Brakes, Supervision Cluster and Rain Sensing Wipers are the segment first features debuted in 2012 Hyundai i20.
October 5, 2013: Toyota India has today launched the updated Toyota Innova, which has gone through some changes both inside and out. However, among all the trims, only GX and VX trims have received changes, while the E and G Grade remain all the same in both BS III & BS IV. Also, Toyota has introduced a new top-end Z Grade, which has been priced at Rs 15.06 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Innova facelift features a bigger chrome grille with three horizontal slats, updated front bumper, new airdam with redesigned fog lamps, a sporty rear spoiler, body graphics with stylish chrome finish muffler cutter. The car has also received some interior changes like stylish wood finished gear knob, an elegant wood panel dashboard and a wooden armrest panel. Moreover, it gets dual tone seats with leather trim, which further enhances the interior feel.
June 15, 2013: Maruti Suzuki India has today launched the CNG version of its famous MPV Ertiga called the 'Ertiga Green'. The CNG version has been made available in two variants priced at Rs 6.52 lakh and Rs 7.30 lakh. With Ertiga Green, Maruti Suzuki India now has a total 6 vehicles with factory fitted CNG kits. The Ertiga CNG also becomes the second vehicle to have all three fuel options (Petrol, Diesel, CNG), the other vehicle is SX4. The factory-fitted CNG Ertiga ensures consistently high performance and a driving experience thanks to the contemporary i-GPI (intelligent-Gas Port Injection) technology. Thei-GPI technology uses a Dual Engine Control Unit that delivers calibrated quantity of fuel to the engine, leading to more efficient fuel usage and consistent high performance.
6 November, 2012 : Hyundai Eon, the arch rival of Maruti’s bestseller, Maruti Alto is going to be upgraded soon. The hatch was launched in the year 2011; the pricing,quality and feature richness are the USP factors of the Hyundai Eon still the hatch could not beat its arch rival Maruti Alto. So, in order to make the Eon more alluring and clock in more sales the company is planning to launch a newfangled version of the car which is going to be available somewhere around June,2013. The new hatch is going to be aggressively marketed in order to drive its sales and help Eon get the share of limelight and be in the bestsellers list where the car should have been. Only time will tell if the market and the consumers is swayed by the forthcoming refreshed version of Hyundai Eon.
October 7, 2013: To celebrate the first anniversary of Alto 800, Maruti Suzuki India has introduced a special Anniversary Edition of the car at Rs 3.12 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is basically the Alto 800 LXI variant, on which new features have been added like new body graphics, blacked out B-pillar, new seat upholstery, body coloured side mirror, body side molding and rear parcel tray. The company has also offered a special Purple Haze body colour for the Anniversary edition; also, the company has also offered Audio system as an option.
24 May, 2012 : Hyundai Verna Fluidic has spent more than a year on Indian roads and the growth curve for this modernistic sedan has been tremendous. According to Hyundai officials, Verna is the segment leader among C segment cars in India, thanks to its top notch fit and finish and futuristic design. In another attempt to push sales, Hyundai will bless the sedan with automatic gearbox option with the trim version of Hyundai Verna 1.6 Litre Diesel. By providing automatic transmission, Hyundai will remove airbag and alloy wheels from the variant, which in turn will cut down the price from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 75000. As of now , Hyundai India is offering four speed automatic transmission in Verna’s top end SX (O) variant. Also, the carmaker is offering reversing camera (usually offered on high-end cars) as standard across all the variants. The camera works only when the reverse gear is active and helps in parking mostly. This is a much better feature compared to reverse parking sensors present in rival cars.
20 March, 2013 : Ford dealerships pan-India are offering a very tempting scheme on the company flagship hatch, the Ford Figo . According to a report published on CarWale, dealers are offering owners the chance to get the Start-Stop and security systems installed in their Figo. The offer is available for all Figo variants with the exception of the base model. This offer comes as a package and therefore owners cannot opt for one and not the other. The dealers are offering this scheme for Rs. 30,000.
October 9: 2013, Mahindra & Mahindra has silently introduced the Scorpio Special Edition for Rs. 11.88 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Only 500 units of the special edition will be offered, and is available only in single Pearl White colour. The vehicle gets the chrome plated alloy wheels and racy decals. The interiors of the special edition Scorpio features a high gloss wood finish centre bezel, beige European leather seat upholstery, leather covered steering wheel and gear shift and knob. It also gets a roof mounted 9" DVD player for the entertainment of passengers. The vehicle comes equipped with additional safety features including ABS and Airbag, EST suspension, Intellipark with sensors, intelligent rain and light sensors and tyre-tronics. The Special Edition Scorpio is powered by the 2.2-litre, 4 cylinder mHawk diesel engine that churns out 120bhp.
25 May, 2012 : Mahindra Bolero, the flagship Sports utility vehicle from homegrown manufacturer Mahindra has clocked in 1, 00,686 units in FY 2011-12 registering a 21% increase. Bolero was once again bestowed with the highest selling SUV title in India for the sixth consecutive year; also this was the highest annual sales garnered by the Bolero since it came into being. In March 2012, only the SUV managed 10,026 unit sales which is also the highest ever monthly sales till now. Mahindra Bolero sold 83,112 units of sales in 2010-11 FY. M&M’s Bolero has risen up to the seventh position in the top selling passenger vehicles in India in FY 2011-12 from the 9th position it had in the year 2010-11. Noticeably Mahindra Bolero is the only SUV to feature in the top selling passenger vehicles in India.
September 16, 2013: In a bid to keep the sales momentum going for the company's flagship hatchback WagonR, Maruti Suzuki India has now launched 'Madhavan Signature Edition WagonR'. Endorsed by the WagonR's brand Ambassador R Madhavan, this special edition has been launched with 12 new features at an additional cost of Rs 20,000 on the regular version. Also, the buyers will get discount vouchers of worth Rs 5,100 and an additional 0.5% discount on the interest rate to be paid. September 13, 2013:Volkswagen India has now finally rolled out the much anticipated new Polo GT TDI for Rs. 8.08 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is now a more powerful version of the car, capable of churning out the maximum power output of 103bhp. Powering the vehicle is a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, which makes the Polo GT TDI the most powerful diesel hatchback in its segment, in fact better than several entry level sedans being sold in the country. What goes in favour of the Polo GT TDI other than the class-leading power and performance, is its ARAI certified 19.78kmpl of mileage.
September 24, 2013: Hyundai India has stopped selling the i10 hatch with 1.2-litre Kappa2 petrol engine, that powers the two top end variants of i10 - the Sportz and Asta. The vehicle is now available in two variants - the Era and Magna. These models are powered by the 1.1-litre iRDE engine that churns out maximum output power of 68bhp and 99Nm of peak torque. With the discontinuation of the two top-end models, the automatic transmission option will also be removed from the i10 lineup. The pricing of the top-of-the line i10 models were getting too close to the Grand line up, which has forced the company to take such a decision.
October 21, 2013: Toyota Kirloskar Motor has introduced the Fortuner TRD Sportivo - Limited Edition for Rs. 24,26,247/- (ex showroom Delhi). The limited edition will be limited to 400 units, and will be sold till the month of December 2013. It will be available in the 4x4 MT variant and comes equipped with several features, which makes it look more sporty. The Fortuner TRD Sportivo Limited Edition gets aerodynamically designed dual tone front and rear bumper spoiler, TRD engraved sporty side body strips, rear roof spoiler, radiator grille with TRD emblem and rear TRD Sportivo badge. It will be available in two colors - Super White and Silver Mica Metallic.
30th-Jan-2012 : New Chevrolet Beat diesel is now accorded the title of ‘Most fuel efficient car’ by delivering 25.44 kmpl, thus surpassing the Tata Indica eV2 which was until now claimed to be the small car associated with highest mileage of 25 kmpl in the country. The body International Center for Automotive Testing (ICAT) has acknowledged Beat diesel as the most fuel efficient car in India after the auto major has endowed the car with a minor engine overhaul to see such a huge improvement in the mileage numbers from the original 24 kmpl to 25.44 kmpl. It is more or less the similar case as seen with Tata Indica eV2 which was later introduced with a similar improvement in the 1.4 L diesel engine to emerge out to be the most fuel efficient car. Earlier, Chevrolet India raised the price of Beat Diesel by Rs 50,000.
September 30, 2013: Maruti Suzuki India has silently introduced the Alto k10 musiK Edition in the Indian car market. It is basically a limited edition vehicle, which is launched to attract buyers and improve the sales during the festive season. The musiK Edition of the Alto K10 comes with 10 additional features. As the name suggests, the vehicle gets more components related to music such as JVC MP3 player with USB and four inch front speakers. The vehicle also gets body graphics, rear spoiler, mud flaps, ambient lighting, new seat covers, steering cover and universal mats. The company hasn't revealed the pricing details of the hatchback, but it is likely to be priced slightly higher than the standard model.
October 19, 2013: Volkswagen India that launched the Vento TSI, has now launched the Vento "Corporate Edition" accessory pack in the Indian car market. The accessory pack can be installed to all the variants of the sedan. The accessory pack is available free of costs, and comes equipped with eight additional features including Alloy wheels, trunk spoiler, mud flaps, door protection, window chrome set, navigation system with rear view camera, seat covers and door step garnish. The Volkswagen Vento is available in both petrol and diesel versions - 105PS, 1.6-litre petrol engine and a 105PS, 1.6-litre diesel engine. The petrol model is available in both five-speed manual and six-speed automatic transmission, while the diesel model only available in a 5-speed manual gearbox.
