General Motors India has recently hosted the grand official preview of its new Multi Purpose Vehicle- Chevrolet Enjoy MPV. The new Enjoy is bigger then any of its competitors and flaunt a much smoother unmistakable silhouette. The prominent shoulder line is much broader and hence offers oodles of space inside the cabin. This MPV has its Chinese lineage as it has been borrowed from GM-SAIC joint venture. Though the American conglomerate has successfully provided much better space inside this design. The quality of fit and finish of this 7-seater MPV is not so promising as like Maruti Ertiga, this is done basically to keep the cost in budget.

This stunning tall MPV is powered by a 1.3-liter multi-jet engine that also houses in Fiat, the mill is capable of producing a maximum of 77bhp accompanied with 205Nm of peak torque output. The specific mill is tuned with a 5-speed manual transmission that transmits torque to both the rear wheels. The Enjoy runs on 175/65/R14 tyres which is actually small as per the size of the vehicle. This month, Honda celebrated the grand debut of its much anticipated diesel compact sedan- Honda Amaze. The car flaunts the best in class mileage, power and space with new age design and mechanics. Moreover, when compared to other supercars in the segment, it is much more practical in everyday life whether one wants to take on the congested city traffic or to hit the highway; the car will stand pretty impressive on both kinds of roads.

The 1.5-litre, i-DTEC Earth Dreams engine that does duty in the recently launched Honda Amaze has been developed by Honda specifically for the Indian subcontinent. This engine has been built off the 1.6-litre i-DTEC engine that is used in the European version of Honda cars, along with many modifications to make it more suitable to the Asian environment. This new engine has been developed by incorporating an all-aluminium open-deck for the die cast engine block that is not only compact but is also lighter. The crankshaft has also been treated with nitrous making it lighter yet giving it more tensile strength. Apart from the crankshafts, the pistons and connecting rods too have been developed to be light-weight; the pistons have the smallest skirt areas in the segment. The combustion system too has undergone modifications, to make it environment friendly and maximise on fuel efficiency. Additionally, the cooling system is ultra-efficient along with a specially developed low viscosity engine oil that helps lubricate the engine and reduce friction.

All in all, the new 1.5-litre, i-DTEC Earth Dreams engine is claimed by Honda to be the lightest in its torque performance class, while mechanical friction has been toned down to the same level as a 1.5-litre petrol engine and cooling energy losses have been minimised as well.  

Honda Motors has been known as a company which constantly evolved in the Indian automobile scene, adapting itself to suit better to the Indian customers. The Honda Amaze is however based on the Brio platform. The front fascia of Honda amaze is observed to offer a beautiful chrome detailed twin horizontal grill. Rachit also explains that the profile of Honda Amaze is similar to earlier versions except for the B-pillar, after which the wheelbase of the Honda Amaze increases by 60mm, which can clearly be observed in the large rear doors.

The rear view of the Honda Amaze is reminiscent of the well lauded Honda City with the chrome lining between the tail lamp cluster. The interiors of the Honda Amaze are highly stylish with minimal design and easy-to-use build. The comfort and elegance can be reflected not just in the design but also in the spacious arrangement which helps customers have a comfortable ride except for the headroom which might be a little issue for passengers with bigger girths. Rachit also explains that the 400-litre boot offered in the Honda Amaze is best in the segment and the diesel variant is devoid of any extensive noise issues which might have made the ride a tough one. The diesel variant handles pretty good and the minor issues in the prototype have been evidently resolved in the final version. The pricing, Rachit says, would be the real deciding factor for the Honda Amaze.

The Japanese giant Toyota has a good hold on Indian Automobile market. The cars from the house of Toyota mark a class statement. In order to cater the overwhelming demand of the B-class segment, Toyota entered the small car market in 2010. It entered the market with the introduction of Toyota Etios and Toyota Liva. Now the brand had sizzled up the car market with the launch of its revamped model of Toyota Etios, christened as Toyota New Etios. It would be replacing the existing model. The car gets quite a few cosmetic tweaks at various places which extend from front fascia to the inner cabin.

The new sedan is visually more stunning with the stylish front grille which has the luxury lineage of the automobile manufacturer reflecting through the chrome. The side profile remains untouched except for the outside rear view mirrors which are redesigned and come with integrated turn indicators in the high end models. The rear is also mostly identical to the outgoing model except for the trendy tail lamps. The automakers did not move their sketch on the exterior much but they did full justice to the cabin, as it gets oodles of new stuffs inside. The remarkable feature is the beige colour dashboard which is adorned with Rivera blue theme information panel. The interior appears to be fresh, spacious and visually lively with the elegant theme, oodles of space and relatively bigger windows. The seats of the New Etios adopt a two tone elegant fabric upholstery which goes well with the dashboard. The upgradations also include but are not limited to flexible headrests and premium door pad touch. As the new Etios was subjected to only cosmetic changes, the mechanical design remains the same. Both the petrol and diesel variants inherit the same mill and produce same power as their counterparts do in the outgoing model.
