Incorporated in 2005, Nissan Motor India Private Limited is a 100 per cent subsidiary of the Japanese car manufacturer Nissan Motor Company. Nissan Motor Company established its arm in India with the vision to enrich people's lives through their latest technology, which is brought to people via the means of Nissan cars. The company commenced its operations in the nation with the launch of the Nissan X-Trail (T30), the first Nissan car in India. And the company has had quite a successful run since then. Ever since its inception, Nissan Motor India Private Limited has successfully pioneered new values, designs and innovations, values that are embodied in the very DNA of the company. The company has dedicated resources to estimate and then endeavor to meet the dynamic needs of the Indian market, and has also expanded its portfolio across all segments, including hatchbacks, sports cars, SUVs, and sedans.

Talking about Nissan's portfolio for the Indian automobile market, the Nissan cars that have secured a place in the list include: Nissan Evalia, Nissan Micra, Nissan Sunny, Nissan Teana, Nissan X-Trail, and the Nissan 370Z. Nissan Micra and Nissan Sunny were the two locally manufactured Nissan cars in India that were launched in less than two years, and became the company's two most successful cars in the country. While Nissan Micra became the first global compact hatchback to be locally manufactured, Nissan Sunny brought together a trendy blend of technology, next-generation efficiency, and generous cabin space.

However, in February 2008, Nissan Motors India Private Limited along with its global alliance partner Renault set up a manufacturing plant near Chennai with an investment of Rs 4, 500 crore spread across a period of seven years. The plant has a production capacity of 400, 000 vehicles per annum and is equally divided between the Indian arms of Renault and Nissan. Other than that, Nissan has also lived up to its corporate commitments through various programs, under which 16 residential homes, a local police station, and a fire service station were constructed near its plant near Chennai. So, other than wooing the country through Nissan cars in India, the Indian arm of the Japanese car maker has also endeavored to fulfill its responsibility towards the society through its various Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.

Talking about Nissan Motor India Private Limited's distributor network, Hover Automotive India are the sole distributors for Nissan cars in India, and the company also attends to NMIPL's sales and marketing, dealer development, customer relationship management, and after sales in India. Other than that, NMIPL has a network of 70 dealers operational across major cities in India, and NMIPL plans to further up that number to 150 by 2013.
