Feature Rich City Car
Feature Rich City Car
This is a review after 2 years of usage for the Hyundai NIOS Sportz variant (this was before the new NIOS facelift arrived). I had already known about the top-class service and showroom experience of Hyundai from my friend who owns the older generation of the Grandi10. So I went eyes shut for Hyundai. The buying experience was excellent despite it was pandemic period. The showroom staff made sure I didn't have to visit the showroom from the test drive until car delivery. Honestly, the other two competitors I took a test drive of were Maruti Swift and TATA Tiago at that moment. Tiago didn't stand a chance and Swift gave a tough fight. So I couldn't avoid comparing it with the Swift VXI variant which was the price-wise close competitor for the Grandi10 NIOS Sportz variant PROS: 1. Upmarket and Upsegment 7" infotainment system 2. Automatic Air conditioning system 3. Steering controls 4. Rear A/C vents are some features that you don't even find in some cars of the next segment, which already gives you are premium interior look and feel. The upholstery is not bad and dashboard plastics are less premium compared to previous generation Grand i10. Some of these features were not even available on the top variant of the other competitors and yet you have to pay more than this. So I settled for this one. Not going for the Asta variant had left me with only minor compromises like a wireless charger, read window wiper, keyless entry, push engine power on-off button, etc., CONS: 1. Low weight doesn't make you feel safe 2. It is only suitable for city driving, on highways the performance is poor, doesn't feel the 113 Nm torque compared to the Maruti equivalents 3. You don't feel safe after 80 kmph and Nvh noises kick in soon, steering gets jittery, so you automatically tend to slow down. 4. Safety rating 2 is no more enough on your sleeve while the competitors flaunt their 4 and 5 stars. 5. Suspension is poor, you feel every stone and groove on the road. More than a 50 km ride you feel the fatigue of the road. Of course, we get only what we pay for yet it is a small regret, that it could have been better. In conclusion, it is a hands-down practical car for city driving, office goers, within budget, and loaded features. But if you are for riding experience, enjoy driving, and are comfort-seeking then you might get disappointed.
