Terrano 2013-2017 Groove Edition Review

Nissan Motor India Private Limited has added one more trim in its famous sports utility vehicle Terrano. It is christened as Nissan Terrano Groove Edition. This variant is being sold with benefits worth Rs 30000 at no additional cost and it will surely lure the car enthusiasts. But the company has decided to sell this limited edition of 250 units only. It is being sold with the same technical features, which are available in the variants of 85PS version. This sports utility vehicle is available with a few additional features, which are speakers from famous American car audio maker Rockford Fosgate, a black roof wrap and enhanced in-car ambiance like ambient lighting, LED scuff plates and branded floor mats. On the other hand, its exteriors get chrome highlights for fog lamps, tail light cluster and boot lid. Under the bonnet, this variant is equipped with a 1.5-litre diesel engine, which comes with a displacement capacity of 1461cc. it has the ability of churning out a maximum power output of 83.8bhp in combination with a peak torque output of 200Nm. It is mated with a five speed manual transmission gear box, which helps in delivering an impressive performance and decent mileage. The car maker has given it a robust suspension mechanism, which keeps it well balanced in every condition. At the same time, its reliable braking mechanism is further augmented by an anti lock braking system that is teamed with an electronic brake force distribution with brake assist. Its rigid body structure, large wheelbase and decent ground clearance makes it capable for off-roading. The company has designed this sports utility vehicle for accommodating five passengers with ease. Its overall length is about 4331mm along with a decent width of 2000mm and a height of 1671mm. The long wheelbase is 2673mm, which ensures enough leg space and shoulder room, while its minimum ground clearance is about 205mm. This vehicle will compete against the likes of Tata Safari, Ford Ecosport, Renault Duster, Mahindra XUV 500 and many others in this class. Exteriors:


To start with the front fascia, it is designed with excellent design that can lure many car enthusiasts. It is equipped with an aggressive radiator grille with a lot of chrome treatment. This grille is embossed with a prominent company insignia in the center. It is surrounded by a trendy set of 4-pod design headlight cluster that is incorporated with high intensity lamps and side turn indicator. The neatly crafted wheel arches are fitted with a set of 16-inch alloy wheels, which enhances the look of its side profile. These rims are further covered with high performance tubeless radial tyres of size 215/65 R16. The rear end is designed with a windshield that has defogger along with wash and wipe function. It also has a sporty rear spoiler, which is integrated with a high mounted stop lamp for additional safety. The curvy tail gate is fitted with a thick chrome strip and embossed with variant badging. Its body colored bumper is accompanied by chrome treated tail pipe finisher and cladding for preventing the vehicle from minor damages. the tail light cluster of this limited edition comes with chrome highlights and integrated with halogen based lamps and side turn indicators.


Interiors:


The company has given this SUV a spacious internal section, which is designed in a dual tone color scheme. It is complemented by ambient lighting, LED scuff plates and branded floor mats. Its smooth dashboard is equipped with a few features like AC vents, a large glove box with sunglass holder, a three spoke steering wheel with multifunctional switches and an advanced instrument panel. This instrument panel houses a lot of warning and notifications for keeping the driver updated. The list includes low fuel warning light, a digital tripmeter, outside temperature display, door ajar warning, driver seat belt warning notification, tachometer and several others. The cabin equipped with ergonomically designed seats, which are covered with premium fabric upholstery. All seats are integrated with adjustable head restraints. The driver seat has electrically adjustable function along with lumbar support for additional comfort. The rear seat comes with 60:40 split folding facility, which helps in increasing the boot volume. The company has given it a number of utility based aspects, which are cup and bottle holders, front seat back pockets, rear parcel shelf, assist grip with coat hooks, boot compartment light and so on. It also has a couple of 12V power socket in center console for charging mobiles and other electronic devices. Apart from these, it is bestowed with four power windows with driver side auto down function, central door locking along with keyless entry, remote fuel lid opener, day/night internal rear view mirror, a spacious boot compartment, electrically adjustable ORVMs and many other such aspects.


Engine and Performance:


Under the bonnet, this variant is fitted with a 1.5-litre diesel engine, which comes with a displacement capacity of 1461cc. It is integrated with four cylinders and sixteen valves using double overhead camshaft based valve configuration. This mill is cleverly mated with a five speed manual transmission gear box, which sends the engine power to its front wheels. It allows the SUV to attain a top speed of 145 Kmph approximately and it takes about 13 seconds for crossing the speed barrier of 100 Kmph from a standstill. This diesel power plant has the capacity of churning out a maximum power of 83.8bhp at 3750rpm and yields a commanding torque of 200Nm at just 1900rpm. With the help of a common rail based direct injection fuel supply system, this engine can return 20.45 Kmpl on the expressways and 15.6 Kmpl in the city traffic conditions, which is rather good for this class.


Braking and Handling:


Its front wheels are equipped with a set of disc brakes, while rear ones have been equipped with a set of drum brakes. The braking mechanism of this variant is further augmented by anti lock braking system along with electronic brake force distribution. It helps in avoiding the vehicle from skidding in case of emergency braking. On the other hand, it has a reliable suspension system, which keeps it stable and gives a jerk free driving experience. The front axle is assembled with an independent McPherson strut, while rear axle is fitted with a torsion beam type of mechanism. Both the front and rear axles are assisted by coil spring and anti roll bar. The cabin is incorporated with an electronic power steering system, which is quite responsive. It comes with tilt adjustment function, which makes handling quite convenient. This steering wheel supports a minimum turning radius of 5.2 meters that is rather good for this class.
