Evalia XL Option Review

Nissan, the fully owned subsidiary of the Japanese automobile giant has introduced the revamped version of Evalia in the Indian car market. This giant MPV comes with some minor tweaks to its exteriors and interiors as well. It includes a set of new floor carpets and faux wood inserts, which gives a refined look to the cabin. As far as its exteriors are concerned, this vehicle is blessed with a slightly tweaked radiator grille, that gives it a refreshing look. On the other hand, the manufacturer has not made any changes to its technical specifications. Powering this variant is the 1.5-litre, dCi diesel motor that is paired with a five speed manual gearbox. It churns out a peak power of 85bhp in combination with a maximum torque output of 200Nm. This latest trim is blessed with important features like a proficient AC unit, a multi-information color display, power steering and several storage spaces. At the same time, it is also blessed with quite a few safety aspects like ABS with EBD, brake assist system and dual front airbags. This vehicle is placed against the likes of Toyota Innova, Chevrolet Enjoy, Maruti Ertiga, and Chevrolet Tavera in the MPV segment.

Exteriors:

This latest MPV comes with minor updates to its exteriors, especially to its front facade. It is now fitted with the company's signature 'V' shaped radiator grille that makes it look trendy. It is further embossed with a chrome plated “Nissan” logo. This is flanked by a sleek headlight cluster that is equipped with high intensity halogen lights along with turn indicators. The front body colored bumper is quite large and hosts blackened air-dam . Its bonnet is quite small, while the windshield is large, which makes it looks quite contemporary. The side profile comes with trendy aspects like body colored door handles and external wing mirrors. Also there are sliding doors, which gives it an asserting look, while making it easy to gain access inside. Its wheel arches are quite expressive and have been fitted with a set of conventional steel wheels including full wheel caps. These rims are further covered with a set of high performance tubeless radial tyres, which gives it a superior grip on roads. Its rear profile has a boxy body design, but is fitted with some trendy cosmetics. The taillight cluster looks small, but at the same time is powered by high intensity brake lights and turn indicators. There is large rear windshield, body colored rear bumper and a high mounted stop lamp that adds to its attractiveness. This vehicle is available in six exterior paint options like Aqua Green, Titanium Grey, Blade Silver, Brick Red, Onyx Black and Pearl White.

Interiors:

The interiors of this latest version gets some updates in the form of faux wood inserts on its central console and on its door panels. Furthermore, the floor carpets have been refined, which gives an elegant look to the interiors. The company has made use of premium quality material for bringing an eye-catching look to the cabin. At the same time, it has fitted comfortable seats inside including lumbar support . This trim gets captain seats in the first and second row, while the third row is fitted with bench seats. The second and third row seats are foldable, which helps to create a huge boot compartment. The best part of its interiors is its ample leg, shoulder and head room, which can accommodate six passengers with utmost ease. For the convenience, the automaker has created plenty of storage space in the form of a large glove box unit, bottle holders, storage pockets and cup holders. On the other hand, it comes equipped with a multi information system in the center console that provides crucial information to the driver. The steering wheel is also neatly sculptured with beige color scheme and it is further equipped with company's badge.

Engine and Performance:

The manufacturer has equipped this Nissan Evalia XL Option trim with a powerful 1.5-litre, dCi diesel engine that has common rail direct injection technology. This engine has a displacement capacity of 1461cc that helps it to churn out a peak power of 85bhp at 3750rpm and maximum torque of 200Nm at 2000rpm. Furthermore, this power plant is mated with an advanced five speed manual transmission that sends the torque output to its front wheels. It clocks the speed mark of 100 kmph from a standstill in a time span of around 17 seconds and can reach up to a top speed in the range of 130 to 150 Kmph.

Braking and Handling:

The company has fitted McPherson strut to the front axle in combination with coil springs, while the rear axle has been equipped with multi leaf system that ensures a smooth drive even on the bouncy roads. At the same time, this MPV comes with superior braking mechanism in the form of front disc brakes and rear drum brakes. It is further incorporated with an anti lock braking system, electronic brake force distribution and brake assist system as standard, which reinforces its braking mechanism. On the other hand, it comes incorporated with a highly responsive power assisted steering system, that helps in reducing the efforts required by driver.

Comfort Features:

This Nissan Evalia XL Option trim been bestowed with several important comfort features that provides a stress-free driving experience. It has a long list of comfort features including follow-me home headlamps, a heating, ventilation and AC with heater, third row roof mounted AC vents, power adjustable wing mirrors, keyless entry, tilt adjustable, cup holders, and front power windows with one touch auto down function. It is also fitted with an advanced music system that includes a CD player, AM/FM tuner, and USB port. In addition to these, it has aspects like tachometer, trip meter, clock and 12V power sockets.

Safety Features:

This mid range variant has been bestowed with several vital safety aspects. The list includes dual front SRS airbags height adjustable head restraints, high mounted stop lamp, an advanced engine Immobilizer, central locking system , door ajar warning and an inside rear view mirror. It is also blessed with anti-lock braking system, brake assist and electronic brake force distribution.
