Creta 2015-2020 1.4 CRDi Base Review
Hyundai Creta is the spanking new SUV launched in the Indian automobile market place. The automaker is offering it in various trims of which, Hyundai Creta 1.4 CRDi L is the entry level diesel variant. It comes equipped with a 1.4-litre diesel engine that produces a maximum power of 88.7bhp in combination with torque output of 219.7Nm. It is a fuel efficient motor that can give a healthy mileage of around 21.38 Kmpl. This variant is bestowed with many important aspects that ensures maximum passenger protection. Some of these include HIVE body structure, engine immobilizer, disc and drum brakes as well. On the other hand, its suspension system also assists in making the drive smoother no matter how the road conditions are. Look wise, this SUV looks quite impressive, while some of its noticeable aspects further add to its appeal. These include a headlight cluster and a stylish bumper at front, whereas its side profile has ORVMs and door handles in body color. Its rear end too is designed excellently with a dual tone bumper, tail gate and a large windscreen. In terms of interiors, it has well cushioned seats that are integrated with headrests, while the cockpit looks quite modernistic with some advanced equipments fitted to it. Besides these, a few storage spaces and utility based aspects are offered that further aids in enhancing the passenger convenience.
Exteriors:
This vehicle comes with good exterior dimensions, which includes an overall length of 4270mm, width of 1780mm and has 1630mm of total height. To describe its exteriors, its front facade features a wide windscreen that is fitted with a pair of wipers. The bonnet looks striking with visible character lines over it, while the radiator grille includes the striking insignia of the company in its center. It also has three horizontally positioned slats, which gets silver coating. This is flanked by a bright headlight cluster that include turn indicators as well. The, there is a bumper integrated with an air dam and a skid plate as well. The firm has designed its rear end in a splendid way with a stylish tail light cluster and an expressive boot lid on which, its logo is neatly embossed. Interiors:
It is bestowed with a roomy internal section that is beautifully decorated with a two tone color scheme. It can accommodate five people with ease and offer them with ample leg as well as head space. It is incorporated with well cushioned seats that offer good support and comfort. These are also covered with premium fabric upholstery. The cockpit has a smooth dashboard that houses an instrument cluster, which gives out some notifications. It also comes equipped with AC vents, center console and a steering wheel that has tilt adjustment function. There are map pockets on its door trims, while the front seats have back pockets. Engine and Performance:
Under the hood, it has a 1.4-litre diesel engine that is based on a double overhead camshaft valve configuration. It has four cylinders that are further integrated with 16 valves. This mill has the total displacement capacity of 1396cc and is incorporated with a common rail direct injection system. It can return a maximum fuel economy of around 21.38 Kmpl on the highways, whereas the minimum mileage comes to nearly 18.3 Kmpl when driven on traffic filled roads. It has the ability to churn out a peak power of 88.7bhp at 4000rpm and delivers torque output of 219.7Nm in the range of 1500 and 2750rpm. Moreover, it comes mated with a six speed manual transmission gear box that transmits engine power to its front wheels. It enables the vehicle to break the speed mark of 100 Kmph in approximately 12 seconds and helps it attaining a top speed of about 165 Kmph.
Braking and Handling:
The car maker has offered this variant with a reliable braking system wherein, its front wheels are equipped with robust disc brakes, while the rear ones are fitted with sturdy drum brakes. It is further accompanied by ABS with EBD, which helps in boosting this mechanism. It comes with a motor driven power assisted steering system that ensures effortless driving while giving quick response. It has tilt adjustment function and supports its minimum turning radius as well. In terms of suspension, a McPherson strut is assembled on its front axle and a coupled torsion beam is used for the rear one. Both these axles are further loaded with coil springs.
Comfort Features:
Despite being an entry level trim, it comes packed with some interesting features that offers high level of convenience to its passengers. It is installed with a manually operated air conditioning system that not just cools the temperature inside but also creates a pleasant ambiance. The front console armrest has a storage space, while an AC vent is present in the rear cabin. The sun visors include a vanity mirror on co-passenger's side, and it has power operated windows, whose controls are mounted on door armrest. For the best in-car entertainment, it has a 2-DIN music system that features CD, MP3 player and four speakers as well. This unit also supports USB port, iPod and auxiliary input options. Apart from these, the list also includes height adjustable front headrest, cable type remote fuel lid opening, MT shift indicator, room lamp, electric tailgate release, keyless entry and follow-me-home headlamps as well.

In terms of safety, it is loaded with some vital aspects that gives a high level of security to its occupants. This vehicle has a rigid body structure that is made of ultra high strength steel. This helps in preventing any injury and ensures minimal damage. Besides these, it also has anti lock braking system along with electronic brake force distribution, day and night inside rear view mirror, as well as engine immobilizer that adds to the safety quotient.
