City 4th Generation i-VTEC CVT ZX Review
The Honda City has been a popular option for automatic car buyers ever since its introduction in the 90s. Such is the popularity of the City AT that the top-end petrol variant is not even offered with a manual transmission. The sedan is currently available in three AT variants i.e. V, VX and ZX. Priced at Rs 13.66 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi, as of 9 May, 2017), the ZX is the range-topping version and its manual counterpart is only available with a diesel engine.
The VX grade is a good balance of need and want features. The ZX primarily improves the safety kit and adds a few nice to have features. So, while dual airbags come as standard, the ZX adds front side and side curtain airbags for a total of 6. Outside, this variant gets LED tail lights and with a more distinctive white and red colour scheme. It also sports a rear spoiler with an LED stop light and LED illumination for the number plate as well.
Also featured are auto-headlamps, auto-wipers and adjustable rear headrests. The LED treatment extends to the cabin too, so even the front map lights and rear reading lights get LEDs.
Powering the Honda City i-VTEC CVT ZX is a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that makes 119PS of power and 145Nm of torque. With the CVT, Honda claims the City will deliver a fuel-efficiency of 18kmpl, which is marginally better than its manual equivalent.
The Honda City AT competes with the Maruti Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento and the Skoda Rapid.
