Enjoy 1.3 TCDi LS 8 Review
The season for the new and updated car launches has started even before the inception of the festive season. One after the other automakers are lining up their four-wheelers in the passenger car segment and the latest among them is the Chevrolet India. This company has introduced the latest version of its MPV Enjoy in the country with minor tweaks done to its style. It has retained all the variants among which, Chevrolet Enjoy 1.3 TCDi LS 8 is the entry level variant. Being the base trim, it gets very limited set of updates. In terms of exteriors, it gets black colored B and C pillars, which is the only change. As for the interiors, its gets a new luxurious dual tone fabric upholstery that refreshes the interior look. However, a notable update is given in the form of a redesigned 3-spoke steering wheel that houses a golden bowtie along with silver accents. On the other hand, no changes have been done to its comfort or safety features. Powering this variant is the same 1.3-litre TCDi diesel engine, which is mated to a five speed manual gearbox. This vehicle has a cover for 40,000 kilometers or three years and comes with 24/7 free roadside assistance for three years.
Exteriors:
Like mentioned above, the company has only tweaked its B and C pillars in this base trim, while keeping all other aspects untouched. These pillars are now in black shade that renders it a modernistic appeal. Its has beautifully carved fenders with steel rims equipped to them. These are further fitted with stylish wheel covers. The door handles and the outside mirror caps are in black, which makes it look standard. The front profile remains to be the same with three dimensional radiator grille featuring chrome surround. The headlight cluster on its either sides look attractive and are housed with halogen headlamps and turn indicators. The overall look of its front is amplified by the company's signature golden bowtie, which is affixed in the center of grille. The rear facet too remains to be the same like its outgoing version. Unlike the front bumper, its rear one looks quite sleek yet sturdy. The tailgate is accompanied with a large windscreen along with a license plate console. It is also decorated with company's insignia along with model and variant badge. The taillight cluster is placed on the D pillars and are housed with brake light along with turn indicators.
Interiors:
Unlike the exteriors, its internal cabin gets some notable updates that makes it look refreshing. The manufacturer has kept the entire design the same like its previous version, but has used a new luxurious fabric upholstery for covering the seats. Its dashboard has the dual tone look wherein the central console gets the chequered finish that beautifies the cockpit. Its steering wheel gets a new three spoke design and is decorated with golden bowtie along with silver accents. Apart from this, all the other features remains to be the same. The seats are in ergonomic design and are well placed for better leg space. Its cockpit has individual seats, while the second and third rows are fitted with bench seats. Overall, this vehicle can provide accommodate a total of eight passengers, which is good for an MPV of such stature.
Engine and Performance:
The company has used the same 1.3-litre TCDi diesel engine that incorporated with a turbocharger. This is a 4-cylinder engine that runs on common rail direct fuel injection technology. It is based on double overhead camshaft valve configuration and has a total displacement capacity of 1248cc. This power plant has the ability to produce a maximum power of 73.8bhp at 4000rpm that enables it to release a peak torque of 172.5Nm at 1750rpm. The transmission is the same five speed manual gearbox that distributes the torque output to the rear wheels. With this engine, it is capable of producing a maximum mileage of approximately 18.2 Kmpl, which is considerably good. On the other hand, this vehicle is capable of reaching a top speed of approximately 150 Kmph and can accelerate from 0 to 100 Kmph mark in approximately 15 seconds.
Braking and Handling:
In terms of suspension, its front axle is fitted with a McPherson Strut and the rear one gets the multi-link system with coil springs. At the same time, both the axles are fitted with passive twin-tube gas filled shock absorbers, which enhances its damping capability. As for braking, this variant gets the disc and drum brakes for front and rear wheels, which performs exceptionally well. On the other hand, this MPV is also blessed with power assisted steering system, which is good.
Comfort Features:
This is the entry level variant, yet it gets several standard set of features. The list of convenience aspects include a high volume glovebox, cup holders in front console, front and rear door map pockets, instrument cluster with blue illumination, driver side storage in dashboard, door armrest along with back pockets for first and second row seats. In terms of comfort features, it gets power assisted steering, central door locking, power windows, tinted glasses, day/night inside rear view mirror and flexi smart double folding third row seat. Additionally, it also gets headlamp leveling device, digital clock, remote fuel filler release, co-driver sunvisor with vanity mirror, height adjustable head restraints and a tachometer. This base variant is also equipped with a heating, ventilation and AC unit along with rear air vents, which keeps the entire cabin pleasant.
Safety Features:
The car maker has built this vehicle using a safe cage body structure with high strength material that makes it capable of dealing with collisions. It includes impact protection beams, which augments the safety levels. Other protective aspects include three point ELR seatbelts, driver's seatbelt reminder, door ajar warning lamp, child protection rear door lock and centrally located high mount stop lamp. This trim also gets adjustable head restraints, which contributes for enhancing safety of occupants.
Pros:
1. Interior appearance has been improved.
2. An ideal vehicle for big families.
Cons:
1. Lack of engine immobilizer and music system is a disadvantage.
2. Minimum ground clearance is very low.
