The interiors of Nissan GT-Rs of the past have always been a somewhat secondary consideration. The same applies to current version to a certain extent, but there’s a sophistication to the modern GT-R’s cabin that was absent in earlier versions. And even if the quality of the materials in the new cars can’t match the best that European rivals have to offer, there is an endearing Japanese efficiency and even a degree of charm to the way the GT-R does things. The bewildering array of screens and data readouts on the centre console are matched by a similar number of switches and buttons – they could only come from Japan, as, too, could the choice of metal-look plastic trim on the fascia and doors. Nissan hasn’t pandered to European conventions, and the GT-R’s cabin is all the better for it. This isn’t a car that’s looking for the panache and lushness of something like a 911, it’s meant to be a technological tour-de-force and to that extent Nissan has done a good job with the cabin. Polyphony Digital, creators of the Gran Turismo series, of motor racing video games, were themselves involved in the development of the GT-R, having been contracted to design the GT-R's multifunction display. The inside cabin of the Nissan GT-R comes with leather-wrapped magnesium paddle shifters, leather-wrapped gearshift knob and parking brake lever, brushed-metal interior trim, French-stitched leather-trimmed dashboard, console and doors, Aluminium-trimmed pedals, etc.
Nissan GT-R can reach up to a top speed of 311Kmph in one of the revised run it attained a top speed of 313Kmph . The test runs showed the car can achieve 100kmph in about 3.5 seconds. The GT-R user's manual states that turning off the VDC is only meant for escaping low-traction situations such as mud or snow. Nissan has re-programmed the 2010 model year GT-R to reduce the engine speed at launch to around 3,000 to 3,500rpm with VDC enabled, which is meant to improve acceleration times. The new programming was also installed on old 2009 vehicles still in Nissan's inventory, and is available for existing 2009 vehicles. The new updated GT-R however now has a launch mode, which Nissan calls "R-Mode Start", and is activated by setting the Transmission and VDC to "R" mode (the Suspension settings can be left in normal mode), holding the brakes, then the throttle, and finally releasing the brakes. The engine speed is now held at 4,000rpm in this mode, and it no longer voids the warranty. However, the system allows a maximum of 4 consecutive hard launches before locking itself out, after which it can be unlocked by driving normally for 1.5 miles. The increased engine output of later models combined with the "R-Mode Start" has lowered the 100 km/h time to 3.2 seconds. Without any form of launch control 100km/h times of 3.8 seconds were achieved.
After the commercial launch, Nissan GTR was launched in different countries with a few upgradation. Recently the car was displayed at Tokyo Motor Show 2009 with some changes. The car Nissan GTR was brought to India in March 2008 for display purpose only. The super fast sports car, Nissan GTR, comes loaded with a 3.8L, DOHC V6, two-parallel turbochargers, all wheel drive with a displacement of 3,799cc. The powerplant of the coupe is capable of delivering a maximum power of 474 bhp at 6400 rpm and produces a peak torque of 588 Nm at 3,200-5200 rpm. The Nissan GTR comes equipped with GR6 dual-clutch six-speed transmission. As far as the acceleration is concerned, the Nissan GTR can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in mere 3.5 seconds, its a World Record. The top speed of the vehicle is more than 300 kmph that speaks volumes about the performance of the car.
Nissan GTR has outstanding exterior with unique shapes at front and rear. The front face of the car is very similar to a rocket. It is also larger than the rear which is common to coupe. The flat grille slot is very sporty and aggressive with monster like look. The upper grille is designed by blending honeycomb grille while the lower grille is totally honeycomb style. Front side skirt is there below the lower grille. Headlamp cluster, comprised of xenon headlamps, is longer and sporty as well. Nissan GTR comprises of electronically powered outside rear view mirrors in body colour. While the door handlebars, bumpers are in body colour. The rear side view of the car is fascinating, charming, dashing and much more. The rear of the Nissan GTR is no less than a dance floor that swoons even the most rigid of car enthusiasts. Tail lights are in 4 dials and LED treatment. Right below the tail lights, twin-exhaust system is positioned at both sides. A large rear spoiler adds to the beauty and sporty look of the mean machine.
The inside of Nissan GTR is stunning and eye-catching. The cabin is equipped with most advanced interior features. The steering wheel is fully powered and has mounted controls. The dashboard is comprised of large meters in black background, white fonts and red arrows. Nissan GTR sports rocking audio system with MP3/CD player and changer along with Bluetooth and USB connectivity. Enough storage space is provided inside the car by the manufacturer. Ample legroom, headroom, hiproom and shoulder room are ensured in the cabin for every passenger. For the safety and security purpose, the Nissan GTR is provided with 8 airbags, fog lamps, traction control, tyre pressure monitoring system, EBD, ABS, ESP and vehicle security alarm system. Nissan GTR is expected to be launched in India with all the above mentioned specifications and features. However, a lot will depend on how the company brings it here.
Although the GT-R excels on almost all road surfaces and conditions, and is, for a heavy car, impressively agile through slower corners if you’re prepared to bully it a little, it is more at home on wider roads and through sweeping corners. The steering takes a little getting used to; at 2.6 turns lock to lock it is quick and relatively lightly weighted, but it is exceptionally accurate and communicative when the limits of adhesion approach. The changes incorporated into the Track Pack subtly enhance the GT-R package to make it more playful at the limit; ideal for those wishing to regularly use their car on a circuit. The extra brake cooling has genuine benefits, with the non-carbon rotors refusing to fade after sustained track abuse. Whether from behind the wheel or standing by the roadside, it is impossible not to be anything but blown away by the sight or feel of a GT-R on maximum attack; its ability to grip and channel horsepower to the road is quite astonishing. The trouble is that to get the most from it you really need to be on a track; use anything more than 40 per cent of its capabilities on the road and you’re travelling way faster than you should.
Handling the Nissan GTR is a much easier than any other supercar but you have to get used to it before racing it on crowded roads. It is equipped with trademark Nissan/Brembo braking system and Bilstein DampTronic suspension system. One other added feature is cruise control as any other car. In view to ensure maximum control over the vehicle, Nissan GT-R is loaded with Electronic Traction Control System (TCS), High-performance 1.5-way mechanical limited-slip rear differential, Advanced Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) with three driver-selectable modes: Normal for daily driving; controls brakes and engine output. R-Mode – for ultimate performance; raising the threshold at which the system intervenes, off – disengaging the VDC system with the Hill start assist preventing rollback when starting on an incline. The Nissan GT-R comes armoured with an array of safety features that includes Nissan Advanced Air Bag System (AABS ) with dual-stage supplemental front air bags with seat belt and occupant-classification sensors, Driver and front-passenger seat mounted side-impact supplemental air bags, Roof-mounted curtain side-impact supplemental air bags for front occupant head protection, Front seat belts with pretensions and load limiters, 3-point ALR/ELR passenger seat belt system (ELR for driver), LATCH System (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children ), Zone Body construction with front and rear crumple zones, Hood buckling creases, Energy-absorbing steering column, 4-wheel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD), Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), etc.
Nissan GT-R, amazing wheels with 20 inch super-lightweight forged-alloy wheel and all season run-flat tyres. The front and rear tyre specification is 255/40ZRF20 and 285/35ZRF20 respectively. The alloy wheels have near-black metallic finishes which give them more character.
