Lewis Hamilton Becomes 2015 Formula1 Champion

Lewis Hamilton, after his exciting win in Texas, became the 2015 Formula1 Champion. The  Mercedes driver needed to stay clear of Vettel by nine points and his team-mate Rosberg by two. Doing exactly the same, he finished the race 76 points clear of his nearest rival, with 75 points still available. After winning the race and being congratulated by his team, the champion was filled with emotion and said “I’m feeling it now, guys, I’m feeling it.” Hamilton then jumped into a crowd of Mercedes mechanics after which he was congratulated by the vanquished Rosberg and Vettel. He is the 10th driver to win three or more championships and is the first British driver to win the title in successive years.

Nico Rosberg, after starting from pole, paid for a late mistake and ended up in second place. The third place was held by Sebastian Vettel after a rigorous effort from the 13th position. 3 races are yet to take place in the competition but with Hamilton’s third win in the four races in Austin, he has secured his position as the leader. A while after taking the checkered flag, Lewis Hamilton celebrated with tears and champagne. Alongside him were Nico Rosberg and Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel on the podium with Sir Elton John.
