Subaru Description :

Subaru is auto manufacturing subsidiary of Japanese transportation company Fuji Heavy Industries. Subaru is the Japanese name for the Pleiades star cluster; is globally known for their boxer engines layout akin to those seen under the hood of Volkswagen Beetle and Porsche 911, as well as the all wheel drive layout. Fuji Heavy Industries is at present in a partial partnership with Toyota Motor Corporation, which has a 16.5% stake in FHI.

Subaru History :

FHI established Subaru in the year 1953 and the first Subaru car drove in the market the next year. The company rolled their first 4X4 in the year 1972 and the AWD became mandatory for all midsized vehicles and smaller cars in the year 1996. General Motors, the American brand acquired 20% stake in FHI, the makers of Subaru cars. Along with General Motors, Subaru launched their first SUV called ‘Forester’ in India in the year 1997. The SUV was launched in India through CBU (completely built unit) and was marketed under General Motors hood. However, since the American brand no longer holds an ownership stake in Fuji Heavy Industries, Chevrolet-badged Forrester sales in India have ended.
