    Polo GT TSI is worth every dime

    Polo GT TSI is worth every dime

    Polo GT TSI looks rather similar to Polo, but in this case, the look is rather deceiving. Of course, it has got that GT badge on it, but the real difference sits under the hood inconspicuously. The retuned 1.2 litre engine mated to the 7 speed DSG gearbox is nothing short of a legend. Yes, there is a compromise on mileage, but frankly, once you get behind those wheels, you wouldn't care. Frankly, if you are after mileage, then you don't go for GT. It is such a marvelous car to drive, a true drivers car. The DSG box, as it always is, picture perfect when it comes to shifts. There is no paddle shift, considering the price range, it is not surprising. In regular, everyday use, the normal drive mode would get the job done with ease. If you are looking for an extra punch on that weekend trip, put it in sport mode and the gear will let you rev almost till the red line. It can hit 100KMPH in under 10 seconds, and there are no other cars in its price range that could do the same. The tires are sticky enough and the suspension is decently configured. Well, the suspension is leaning more to the soft side, rather than the sport side, but hey, it gets the job done, and is the best option in Indian road conditions. The breaking is just perfect, it has the bite to stop the car when you want it to. The ground clearance is good enough, and at 280 litre boot space is adequate for carrying your luggage for your weekend trip, if you are not in the habit of packing everything in your house. The built quality is fantastic, then again this is one area Volkswagen has always scored. It comes loaded with most of the equipment that today's cars in the price range comes with, nothing fancy though. There is a lot of plastics inside, again nothing surprising here considering the price range. The plastics seems to be of good quality, so you wouldn't be complaining too often. If I have to complain about one thing, that would be looks. Don't get me wrong, it is a beautiful car, but it looks too similar to Polo, if you take the GT badges out. I would have liked to see a bit more of a difference, also a few more color and alloy options. The things that impresses me the most is are the responsiveness of the engine and the precision of the DSG box. Overall, it is a great buy. Nothing in that price range could compete with it.

      Nice car
      The polo is still the best hatchback available in India. The only negative part is the rear seat is little crampy for tall persons of height more than 6ft. The one litre Na petrol engine is lacking little power Especially in climbing some hilly areas Rest the car is perfect The feature-wise it is missing reverse camera

      Do Not Buy;
      I own a Volkswagen Polo  Diesel DSG Highline model. I bought this car in Dec 2015. Since it has been giving me lots of issues. First Steering stud failure for which I had to visit 3 times to dealer. Now there is a brake noise issue and it's been 5 times car went to showroom but no solution. VW employees do not talk to you even after your request.

      Good Car;
      Excellent handling and features of the Volkswagen Polo. I have been driving this car from 2011 and I love Volkswagen and their technology on the car. The car runs smoothly as it is powered by a powerful Volkswagen engine. Also, the maintenance of the car is also not too much. The parts and service is easily available.

      German Fantasy Gone Right
      The Polo is the only German solid car which I personally felt happy to drive after Ford Figo. The diesel engine delivers power as you start pushing the gas pedal. The design language feels sort of old but can still compete with today's other hot hatches. The only downside I feel is about maintenance and the ground clearance of the car. Even though I don't drive rashly it still touches many of the times while driving. The car feels extremely peppy driving on the highway. Polo offers the right to command on steering wheel, cornering feels extremely confident, unlike Suzuki Swift, Baleno. The only thing I want to suggest Volkswagen is to get the facelift which is already available in other countries which will make Polo a great package altogether.
