Look and Style  From past few months I am planning to shift from petrol variant to a diesel version because of regular hike in petrol prices. I am a owner of a Honda City for the past two years, although I am much satisfied with its performance but the regular increase in petrol price forced me to make a shift. After a research I found that Skoda is also soon to bring a diesel sedan based on MissionL concept. From the various Internet sites I found that this new sedan looks like Volkswagen... 4

Skoda MissionL review

Skoda MissionLSkoda MissionL, a concept car from Skoda’s hood is expected to arrive in India by November this year. Skoda MissionL is essentially a small size sedan and looks very similar to Volkswagen Vento sedan. Skoda MissionL price therefore will be kept competitive to attract descent sales in India. Skoda MissionL was displayed at Frankfurt Motor Show recently. The MissionL is based on the Vision D concept which Skoda showcased at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2011.

Keeping in mind the Indian market, where Skoda MissionL is launching first among the entire globe, will be a small size sedan. Skoda Auto will place Skoda MissionL in a segment between Skoda Fabia and Skoda Octavia. By this strategy, Skoda will have a sedan in the entire section in Indian market. Skoda is relying on Skoda MissionL too much and this suggests that Skoda MissionL will be a mass puller. MissionL reveals the look of Skoda’s new compact model which is the core of their “Model Offensive” strategy. Skoda is using the MissionL concept to provide hints at the styling direction for future Skoda models.

Skoda MissionL has many distinct features to look at. The MissionL has a rather handsome notchback form and a rear end whose shape recalls that of the current Audi A4. The crystalline headlamps are arranged in a nifty four-leaf clover pattern. The front end retains all the classic touches with a very horizontal theme but the business end of this concept is actually all the way to the rear. Skoda MissionL has an elegantly finished interior and no awkward gaps between the body panels. The car has a strong, sporty look which conveys a beautiful simplicity and a youthful and contemporary appearance. Skoda MissionL is for people who look for clean, minimalistic lines. The MissionL concept is a blend of lines and sharp cuts keeping it true to the new Skoda family design language.

The four-door concept is based on Volkswagen Polo. Skoda MissionL is expected to be offered in 1.6 litre petrol and a 1.4 litre diesel engine just like Volkswagen Vento or for that matter any other Volkswagen car. It is also rumored that Skoda MissionL is a variant of Volkswagen Jetta.

Many new cars as well concept cars were unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.. Among the twenty nine cars that find their platform Volkswagen’s subsidiary Skoda has unveiled it’s almost production ready concept sedan Skoda MissonL. It will debut in India first. This still-unnamed car will be a four door car and in all probability will be placed somewhere in the price range between Skoda Fabia and Skoda Octavia. Later, it will be introduced in Europe, Russia and China in 2012. Skoda’s new avatar MissionL will be the car that will give a hint to the future models by the Czech car maker. As per reports, Skoda has set in a prospective sales figure of 1.5 million globally for its cars and hopes that Skoda MissionL will play a vital role in sketching numbers on the sales chart. In India, the Czech carmaker hopes to increase its share to 3 percent.

The exteriors of the new Skoda sedan MissionL will be simple yet sporty, youthful contemporary and impressive. Inspired by the belief that simple yet sporty looks are in vogue, Skoda MissionL concept will define the future appearance of Skoda cars.

Presently, there is no official word regarding Skoda MissionL specifications and features but as per recent reports, the new entry level sedan offering will be more like Czech transformation of Volkswagen Jetta. Like Jetta, Skoda MissionL concept based sedan is expected to be powered by the same 1.6-litre petrol and a similarly powered diesel engine. However unlike Jetta, Skoda MissionL sedan will be priced in the range of Rs 8 lakh to Rs 9 lakh.

Skoda MissionL Exteriors

Skoda MissionL Exterior Appearance

As earlier said, Skoda MissionL will be the future design of almost all the upcoming Skoda cars. The front face of the car projects its aerodynamic shape. The front two uniquely designed almost rectangular shaped headlamps with LED/neon strip lining challenges darkness. The headlamps flow a little towards the sides in order to facilitate as side indicators as well. There are also two neon front fog lamps. The centre of the bonnet flows down to the front grille that has horizontal slanting bars. The grille has a chrome lining that poses a typical smiling face. The green Skoda badge sits at the centre of the bonnet just above the grille. There is an air dam in between the front fog lamps.

Coming to the sides of the Skoda MissionL one get an impression that it is a tall, stand upright car. There are muscular moulded mud guards on the side fenders. The panoramic sun roof’s black tint is visible from the sides as well. The rear look is somewhat similar to Octavia except that the sun roof merges with the rear screen.

The petrol powered MissionL will have a top speed of 186 kmph.

The diesel variant will be frugal but a little lethargic. It will be able to cross the 100kmph mark in around 20 seconds. The top speed will be the same as that of the petrol car.
