Vento 2015-2019 1.2 TSI Highline Plus AT Review
The Volkswagen Vento, with the 1.2-litre TSI petrol motor, is available in three variants â?? Comfortline, Highline and Highline Plus. The Highline Plus is the range-topping trim in its lineup. The Vento Highline Plus 1.2 TSI petrol is priced at 12.25 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi as of April 4, 2017).
Launched in April 2017, the Highline Plus trim comes with all the bells and whistles you can expect in a mid-size sedan. The Highline Plus carries over all the goodies that the Highline trim offers and a few additional ones to make it even more enticing. The biggest difference you will notice on the outside are the full-LED headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights (these headlamps are a straight lift from the hotter, two-door Polo GTI and feature auto-levelling function as well). In addition to the snazzier headlamps, the Highline Plus is also equipped with a reverse parking camera.
As for safety, all variants of the Vento come with dual-front airbags (driver and front passenger) along with ABS (anti-lock braking system) as standard. Like the other two variants that are equipped with the 1.2 TSI AT powertrain, the Highline Plus too comes with ESP (electronic stability program) and hill-hold control (which prevents the car from rolling backwards on an incline). It rides on 15-inch alloy wheels with 185/60 cross-section tyres.
The 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine is the same motor that powers the Polo GT TSI. This engine puts out 105PS of max power and 175Nm of peak torque. Like the Polo GT TSI, the Vento too gets the 7-speed DSG (dual-clutch) automatic gearbox. The ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of the Volkswagen Vento 1.2 TSI Highline Plus is 18.19kmpl, which is nearly 2.1kmpl more than the naturally-aspirated, 1.6-litre petrol engine. The Volkswagen Vento 1.2 TSI Highline Plus goes up against the Honda City i-VTEC ZX CVT, Hyundai Verna 1.6L SX AT and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Alpha AT among others.

No. of Cylinders ICE engines have one or more cylinders. More cylinders typically mean more smoothness and more power, but it also means more moving parts and less fuel efficiency. | 4 |
Valves Per Cylinder Valves let air and fuel into the cylinders of a combustion engine. More valves typically make more power and are more efficient. | 4 |
Valve Configuration Valve configuration refers to the number and arrangement of intake and exhaust valves in each engine cylinder. | SOHC |
Fuel Supply System Responsible for delivering fuel from the fuel tank into your internal combustion engine (ICE). More sophisticated systems give you better mileage. | Direct Injection |
Bore X Stroke Bore is the diameter of the cylinder, and stroke is the distance that the piston travels from the top of the cylinder to the bottom. Multiplying these two figures gives you the cubic capacity (cc) of an engine. | 76.5 x 86.9 mm |
Compression Ratio The amount of pressure that an engine can generate in its cylinders before combustion. More compression = more power. | 10.5:1 |
Turbo Charger A device that forces more air into an internal combustion engine. More air can burn more fuel and make more power. Turbochargers utilise exhaust gas energy to make more power. | Yes |
Super Charge A device that forces more air into an internal combustion engine. More air can burn more fuel and make more power. Superchargers utilise engine power to make more power. | No |
Transmission Type | Automatic |
Gear Box The component containing a set of gears that supply power from the engine to the wheels. It affects speed and fuel efficiency. | 7 Speed |
