The Volkswagen Vento with the 1.2-litre TSI petrol engine is available in three variants â?? Comfortline, Highline and the Highline Plus that was recently added to the lineup. Now, it must be noted that the Trendline (base) variant that is available with the 1.6-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol engine and the 1.5-litre TDI diesel engine is not available with this 1.2-litre turbo-petrol motor. The Vento Comfortline 1.2-litre TSI AT is priced at Rs 10.41 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi as of April 4, 2017).

In terms of features, the Vento 1.2 TSI Comfortline AT offers a double-din audio system with Bluetooth phone integration (with phonebook sync) along with iPod connectivity, CD/MP3 player with USB, Aux-in and SD card input. This unit comes with a 4-speaker sound system. This variant also offers creature comforts like a leather-wrapped flat-bottomed steering wheel and a leather-wrapped gearshift knob, along with a black interior theme with fabric upholstery. Other features include a rear centre armrest, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, a cooled glovebox, rear parking sensors, cruise control and footwell lighting.

As for safety, all variants of the Vento come with dual-front airbags (driver and front passenger) along with ABS (anti-lock braking system) as standard. The Comfortline 1.2 TSI AT further adds ESP (electronic stability program) and hill-hold control (which prevents the car from rolling backwards on an incline). It rides on 15-inch steel wheels (no alloy wheels here) with 185/60 cross-section tyres.

The 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine is the same engine that powers the Polo GT TSI. This engine produces 105PS of max power and 175Nm of peak torque. Like the Polo GT TSI, the Vento too gets the 7-speed DSG (dual-clutch) automatic gearbox. The ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of the Vento 1.2 TSI is 18.19kmpl, which is nearly 2.1kmpl more than the naturally-aspirated, 1.6-litre petrol engine. The Volkswagen Vento 1.2 TSI Comfortline goes up against the Honda City i-VTEC V CVT, Hyundai Verna 1.6L S AT and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Delta AT among others.
