Jetta 1.4 TSI Comfortline Review

For increasing the number of sales, Volkswagen Motors have launched the facelifted version of its enigmatic and premium sedan, Volkswagen Jetta with a few cosmetic updates. It is being sold in several variants, out of which, Volkswagen Jetta 1.4 TSI Comfortline is the top end petrol trim. In terms of technical specifications, it remains the same. It is powered by a 1390cc petrol engine under the hood, which has the ability of churning out a maximum power of 120.3bhp along with a peak torque of 200Nm. It is coupled with a six speed manual transmission gear box, which helps in providing exceptional performance on the roads. Its advanced braking mechanism is further augmented by anti lock braking system along with electronic brake force distribution and brake assist. The company has made some major changes to its exteriors. Its frontage is designed with new three chrome slat radiator grill, enlarged bumper, a set of new L-shaped day time running lights and fog lamps enclosure gives the frontage a refreshing look. At the same time, its rear has been modified with tweaked bumper and LED tail light cluster. Other styling aspects include body colored door handles, a classy set of alloy wheels that has brought a well-defined look to the sides. This variant is being offered with a number of essential safety aspects, which keeps the occupants as well as vehicle safe. In terms of interiors, it is designed in a new piano black color scheme with illumination, which gives it a classy appearance. Other changes includes, a three spoke flat bottom steering wheel, new upholstery and updated center console along with touchscreen display. On the other hand, it is being offered with a standard warranty of three years or 100000 Kilometers, whichever is earlier and this period can be extended at an additional cost.

Exteriors:

The exteriors of this revamped version looks more stylish and capable for attracting the buyers. Starting with the frontage, it has an attractive radiator grille, which is fitted with a three chrome plated slats. It is embossed with a company logo and flanked by a well designed headlight cluster. It is incorporated with high intensity halogen lamps along with side turn indicators. It also has day time running lamps that gives the frontage a distinct appearance. Just below this, it has a body colored bumper, which is fitted with an enlarged air dam that is flanked by a couple of bright fog lamps. It has a large windscreen that is made up of green tinted glass and is integrated with a set of intermittent wipers. Coming to its side profile, it is neatly designed with flared up wheel arches, body colored outside rear view mirrors and door handles. These external wing mirrors are electrically adjustable and fitted with side turn indicator. The neatly crafted rear end has a curvy boot lid, which is fitted with a thick chrome strip and embossed with variant badging. Its body colored bumper is fitted with a pair of reflectors. The newly designed radiant tail light cluster is incorporated with LED based reverse light and turn indicator. Its windscreen has a defogger along with wash and wipe function as well.

Interiors:

The insides of this wonderful sedan has been done up very stylishly with extremely smooth surfaces, which are made with very high quality material. The newly developed flat bottomed steering wheel, which is mounted with various control buttons. The seating arrangement is very comfortable with well cushioned seats, which are covered with good quality premium upholstery. Its driver and front co-passenger seat are electrically adjustable that adds to the convenience. It is equipped with 60:40 folding rear seat, which helps in increasing the boot volume. It has an advanced multi-functional display with quite a few notifications, which gives every minute information to the driver. The power steering wheel is very responsive and makes it easier to maneuver the sedan even in heavy traffic conditions. This sedan is bestowed with a number of utility based aspects like map pockets in all doors, electric trunk opener, illuminated vanity mirrors, ceiling lens holder, cup holders, adjustable front armrest with bottle holders and many other such aspects. This turbocharged motor is incorporated with an advanced fuel injection supply system, which allows the vehicle to deliver a decent fuel economy. It has the ability of generating 10.5 Kmpl in the city traffic conditions, while its mileage goes up to 14.69 Kmpl on the highways. It is cleverly mated with a six speed manual transmission gear box, which sends the engine power to its front wheels. It enables the vehicle to zoom towards a top speed of 202 Kmph and it can accelerate from zero to 100 Kmph in close to 11-13 seconds.

Braking and Handling:

The front and rear wheels of this Volkswagen Jetta 1.4 TSI Comfortline variant are fitted with conventional set of disc brakes. This braking mechanism is further augmented by ABS along with brake assist and electronic differential lock (EDL). It also comes with hill hold control and anti slip regulation system that helps in handling the sedan on slippery roads. On the other hand, its front axle is assembled with a stabilizer along with coil spring and shock absorbers. While, the rear axle has a multi link suspension with a similar stabilizer. The car maker has given this sedan an ESC (electronic stability control) system as well. The rack and pinion based power steering system is tilt and telescopic adjustable. It supports a minimum turning radius of 5.5 meters, which is quite good for this segment.

Comfort Features:

This refurbished version has been integrated with some of the most comfortable features, which gives the occupants a pleasurable driving experience. The inventory of features comprises of an advanced dual zone climatic control unit with rear AC blowers, electric power steering, height adjustable front seats, all four power windows with driver side auto down function and many other such aspects. It also has park distance control and rear mounted proximity sensors, which helps in simplifying the parking of this marvelous sedan. This highly developed parking system comes with front and rear camera and sensors with an acoustic warning along with crystal clear display, which shows up on the central infotainment system on the central console. Its external wing mirrors are power adjustable, heated and can be electrically folded. It has a sophisticated touchscreen audio system, which has a six CD changer along with input options like an SD card reader, an Aux-in port and eight speakers as well. It has been integrated with a cruise control system, which maintains a steady speed on the highways.

The car maker has given this variant a robust and crash safe body structure with front and rear crumple zones that reduces the impact of collision and ensures safety of the occupants sitting inside. It is incorporated with SRS airbags for driver and front co-passenger, 3-point ELR (emergency locking retractor) seat belt for all passengers, rear defogger, ABS with EBD and driver seat belt reminder notification on instrument panel. Apart from these, it is also equipped with brake pad wear indicator, retro reflectors in all doors, central locking with two remote control folding keys and front passenger airbag deactivation system.
