Bolt Revotron XM Review

India's most popular automaker, Tata Motors has launched another vehicle in the car bazaar, which is based on its much talked HorizoNext concept. This time, it has introduced a hatchback model that is christened as Tata Bolt. This latest hatchback is made available in four petrol and diesel variants among which, Tata Bolt Revotron XM is the mid range petrol trim. It is powered by a 1.2-litre Revotron engine that churns out 88.8bhp along with a pounding torque of 140Nm. It has a breathtaking external appearance with sleek body structure and radiant cosmetics all round. The manufacturer has bestowed it with smoked headlamps and flame-shaped tail lights, which gives it an astounding look. It also has a mesmerizing internal cabin owing to the graceful design and java black color scheme. Furthermore, it gets a few metallic accents inside, which eventually gives a sublime look to the cabin. Although it is the mid range variant, it has aspects like ConnectNext infotainment unit, electric power assisted steering with tilt adjustment and height adjustable driver's seat. The automaker has also given importance to the protective aspects by incorporating features including dual front airbags, engine immobilizer, and cornering braking function, which eventually enhances the level of safety.

Exteriors:

The external appearance of this Tata Bolt Revotron XM trim looks quite decent, as it has a decent body structure featuring a few expressive lines on it. Its front facade looks aggressive owing to the smoked headlight cluster, but it houses halogen headlamps as standard. In the center, there is a signature radiator grille with perforated mesh and is embedded with the company's logo. At the same time, it is also fitted with a chrome plated humanitarian line that emphasizes its majestic stance. The front bumper has a slightly carved design but its air dam along with fog lamp consoles have graceful structure, which eventually makes it look stylish from the frontage. Its side profile too has an elegant appeal, thanks to the blacked-out B and C pillars. The external wing mirrors are integrated with turn blinkers, which dazzles the side facet. This latest hatchback gets a set of conventional steel rims as standard feature and are covered with expressive wheel caps. Coming to its rear end, it has a distinctive look than any other model in the Tata's portfolio. The taillight cluster has a new flame-shaped design that dazzles this facet. Its back door too has an eye-catching design and is decorated with the chrome plated company's logo along with variant lettering. At present, the manufacturer is offering this vehicle in a total of five attractive color shades including venetian red, pristine white, platinum silver, dune beige and sky grey.

Interiors:

Coming to the interiors, this newly launched hatchback has a mesmerizing stance that resembles the design of a high end luxury saloon. The manufacturer has used an eye-soothing Java black color scheme for the interiors and underlined it with a few metallic accents. The most attractive aspect of the cabin is its cockpit section, where it has a modernistic dashboard embodying a lot of equipments. It houses an AC unit along with an infotainment unit and a few storage units, which are easy to access. The instrument cluster has an attractive illumination featuring trendy dials and a multi-information screen. It displays information related to the fuel levels, vehicle's speed, rpm levels and a few warning lights, which keeps the driver informed. The seats inside are quite comfortable, as they are ergonomically designed and covered with good quality fabric upholstery. Its driver's seat has a height adjustable function, wherein the rear seat has split foldable facility that is helpful to increase the boot volume.

Engine and Performance:

The manufacturer has equipped this mid range trim with a powerful 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine that has an advanced multi-point fuel injection system. It has a total of four cylinders featuring 16-valves, which displaces 1193cc. It also an intercooler and a turbocharger for enhanced power and better performance. This power plant is skilfully mated to an advanced five speed manual transmission gearbox that transmits the torque output to its front wheels.

Braking and Handling:

As far as the braking is concerned, its front wheels are fitted with sturdy set of disc brakes and the rear ones are paired with drum brakes. This efficient mechanism is assisted by the anti lock braking system and electronic brake force distribution that offers a skid-free driving experience. In addition to this, it is also integrated with a cornering brake control function that minimizes the rolling motion of this hatchback while corning and keeps it stable. Furthermore, it is also incorporated with an electric power assisted steering system that provides excellent response and makes handling quite simpler.
