Scala RxL CVT Travelogue Review

Renault Scala is a luxury sedan, which is doing decent sales for its company. In a bid to augment its sales further, the company introduced Travelogue Edition of Scala with a few exclusive features. It is available in five trim levels among which, Renault Scala RxL CVT Travelogue is the mid range petrol version. This trim is powered by a 1.5-litre, XH2 petrol engine that is capable of producing 99.6bhp in combination with a peak torque of 134Nm. This trim gets an integrated MediaNav system that comes with Bluetooth connectivity and music system. It also comes with illuminated scuff plates featuring Scala lettering and rear sun blinds. On the outsides, this latest trim comes with rear muffler cutter with sporty exhaust pipe, side body decals and ORVMs with integrated turn indicators. Apart from these, it comes with important comfort features like an automatic climate control unit, multi-functional steering wheel and numerous other advanced features. This compact sedan comes with an additional 2-years warranty along with free roadside assistance of four years. At present, the company is offering this sedan in five exterior paint options, which include Solid Black, Pearl White, Metallic Red, Silver and Metallic Blue.

Exteriors:

The exteriors of this Renault Scala RxL CVT Travelogue trim looks distinct, thanks to its new exclusive features. At the rear, its dual tone bumper comes with a muffler cutter that is further fitted with a exhaust pipe. On the sides, it comes with body colored ORVMs featuring integrated turn blinkers. It gets stylish body decals, which further emphasizes its exclusiveness. Despite being the mid range trim, it comes with a set of 14-inch stylish alloy wheels that are covered with 185/65 R15 sized tubeless tyres. Its window waistline and B-pillars have black sash tape, while the door handles are in chrome. In the front, it comes with smoked-style headlight cluster equipped with powerful halogen headlamps and turn indicators. Its front bumper has a two tone look, which is further incorporated with a large air dam that gives an aggressive stature to the front. The overall look of the front is complimented by the chrome plated radiator grille that features company's insignia. This sedan comes with a total length of 4425mm along with a width of 1695mm and a decent height of 1505mm. Its ground clearance is just 161mm, while its wheelbase is calculated at 2600mm, which is quite large.

Interiors:

This Travelogue trim comes with spacious interiors in a beige color scheme, which is further complimented by chrome accentuation. Its cockpit has a neatly designed dashboard that is integrated with equipments like MediaNav, instrument panel and a climate control unit. It also features a three spoke leather wrapped steering wheel, which is equipped with audio and call function switches . The gearshift knob and the steering wheel has silver inserts while the inside door handles comes with chrome treatment. The seats are quite wide, well cushioned and have been integrated with head restraints. These seats have been covered with good quality fabric upholstery. Its door trims have fabric inserts and are further equipped with bottle holders. The best part about its interiors is the ample leg, shoulder and head space, which can host at least five passengers comfortably. On the other hand, it has a total boot volume of 490-litres, which is impressive.

Engine and Performance:

This luxury sedan is equipped with a 1.5-litre, XH2 petrol power plant under the hood that displaces 1498cc . This engine is based on a dual overhead camshaft valve configuration featuring 4-cylinders and 16-valves. It can produce 99.6bhp at 5600rpm along with a peak torque output of 134Nm at just 4000rpm. This engine is skilfully mated to a X-Tronic CVT automatic transmission box that enables the motor to deliver exceptional performance, while producing good mileage. It can deliver a mileage in the range of 13.5 to 17.97 Kmpl, which is quite good.

Braking and Handling:

This sedan comes with a proficient braking and robust suspension system. Its front wheels are paired with conventional discs, while the rear ones are paired with drum brakes. It is further assisted by anti lock braking system in combination with emergency brake assist and electronic brake force distribution. As far as the suspension is concerned, it comes with McPherson strut for the front and torsion beam based rear suspension. This sedan also features an electric power steering system with a minimum turning radius of 5.3-meters.

Comfort Features:

This Renault Scala RxL CVT Travelogue is the mid range petrol variant that is bestowed with several important features. It comes with features like a key less entry, follow me home headlamps, electrically adjustable outside mirrors, electric power steering with tilt adjustment and numerous other advanced features. It also comes with an automatic air conditioning system featuring an air quality filter and rear AC vents that keeps the entire cabin pleasant. Apart from this, this sedan comes with a driver's seat height adjuster, clutch foot rest, a multi-functional steering wheel, front sun visors with vanity mirrors, and an advanced instrument panel. Furthermore, it comes integrated with a multi-function screen featuring the cruising range, fuel consumption display and a dual trip meter. This trim also comes with an integrated MediaNav system featuring a navigation, entertainment and communication system along with Bluetooth connectivity and AUX-In/USB ports.
