Scala Diesel RxL Travelogue Review

Renault India has launched the Travelogue Edition of its popular sedan Scala in the country's car market. The automaker has launched it in three petrol and two diesel variants, which comes in manual as well as automatic transmission gear box. This Renault Scala Diesel RxL Travelogue Edition comes with quite a few additional features, which makes the sedan look more attractive. These aspects include a brilliant touchscreen navigation system, Bluetooth connectivity, LED scuff plates, sun blinds and side blinkers on outside rear view mirrors as well. This variant is fitted with a 1.5-litre diesel engine, which comes with a displacement capacity of 1461cc. It has the ability to churn out a maximum power output of 84.8bhp along with a peak torque of 200Nm. It is incorporated with a direct injection fuel supply system, which helps in generating a decent fuel economy. The company claims that this sedan can return 21.64 Kmpl on the highways and about 18.5 Kmpl in the city, when driven under standard conditions. It is available in five exterior paint options for the buyers to choose from. The list includes Metallic Blue, Solid Black, Pearl White, Metallic White and Silver with metallic finish option as well.

Exteriors:

The company has given this variant an aerodynamic body structure and it is fitted with a few striking features that gives it an appealing look. The front fascia has a bold radiator grille with a lot of chrome treatment and is embedded with a prominent company badge in the center. It is flanked by a well designed headlight cluster that is powered by high intensity halogen lamps and turn indicators. The two tone bumper is fitted with a wide air dam for cooling the engine. The sleek bonnet comes with visible character lines and the large windscreen has been integrated with a couple of intermittent wipers. The side profile is fitted with chrome plated door handles and body colored outside rear view mirrors. These ORVMs are electrically adjustable and integrated with side blinker as wel l. The flared up wheel arches are equipped with a classy set of 14 inch alloy wheels. These rims are covered with 185/70 R14 sized tubeless radial tyres. On the other hand, the rear end is fitted with a dual tone bumper with a pair of reflectors and a radiant tail light cluster. The windshield is integrated with a defogger and a high mounted brake light as well.

Interiors:

The internal cabin of this Renault Scala Diesel RxL Travelogue Edition is designed with Dark Grey and Beige color scheme. The smooth dashboard is equipped with AC vents, steering wheel, an instrument panel and a large glove box as well. The car manufacturer has incorporated this trim with some utility based aspects like cup and bottle holders, front seat back pockets, cabin lamps, adjustable driver sea t, a 12V power socket for charging electronic devices, remote fuel lid opener, sun visors with vanity mirror and many other such aspects. The illuminated instrument panel of this trim houses a tachometer, door ajar warning, a digital clock, outside temperature display, key left reminder notification, headlights on reminder buzzer and so on. This variant is fitted with a 1.5-litre diesel engine, which comes with a displacement capacity of 1461cc. This four cylinder based power plant can churn out a maximum power of 84.8bhp at 3750rpm in combination with 200Nm torque output at 2000rpm. It is coupled with a five speed manual transmission gear box, which sends the engine power to its front wheels. This diesel mill is incorporated with a direct injection fuel supply system, which helps in delivering a healthy fuel economy. This sedan has the ability to attain a maximum speed in the range of 155 to 160 Kmph. At the same time, it can cross the speed barrier of 100 Kmph in close to 15 seconds that is rather decent for this segment.

Braking and Handling:

The company has given this sedan a proficient suspension system, which keeps it stable at all times. The front axle is assembled with a McPherson strut, while the rear is fitted with torsion bar type of mechanism. The braking mechanism is further enhanced by anti lock braking system along with electronic brake force distribution and emergency brake assist function . The front wheels are equipped with a set of disc brakes, while the rear ones are fitted with conventional drum brakes. On the other hand, the manufacturer has given it an electronic power steering system, which supports a minimum turning radius of 5.3 meters. This steering wheel is tilt adjustable and makes handling very convenient even in heavy traffic conditions.

This Renault Scala Diesel RxL Travelogue variant comes with quite a few features, which gives the occupants a comfortable driving experience. The integrated music system is equipped with CD/MP3 player, radio, Aux-in port and USB interface along with Bluetooth connectivity . It also has a multi-functional steering wheel, which is mounted with audio and phone control buttons. The efficient air conditioning unit comes with air quality filter and rear comfort blower as well. Apart from these, it is bestowed with clutch foot rest, a touchscreen display with navigation system, rear center armrest with cup holders, follow me home headlamps and so on.

Safety Features:

The car manufacturer has blessed this variant with a number of aspects for a stress free driving experience. The list includes airbag for driver and front co-passenger, speed sensing auto door locks, keyless entry, central locking system and adjustable head restraints.
