Range Rover Sport 2013-2022 5.0 SVR Review
Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR is a new variant added to this series. Unlike the other trims, it is graced with a formidable set of cosmetics for all of its facets. The company has tailored its exteriors for a sportier edge, with unique SVR branding by the frontage, the side and the tailgates. The SUV's bold design pattern remains the same, and it exacts a look of prominence and authority with its muscular profile. The interior of the car gets minor revisions with regards to the look. Also, it gets some new comfort facilities as well. The wide seats are dressed with rich clothing that adds to the energy of the cabin. The driver's job is made far easier with a command driving positioning program, a gradient acceleration control, and a speed proportional electric power assisted steering function. The car is driven by a supercharged V8 engine, which carries it to a top speed of 260kmph, and allows it to float past the 100kmph mark within just 4.7 seconds. In addition to performance, the engine delivers a good mileage of 7.7kmpl, a decent figure for this segment.
Exteriors:
The large and muscular poise of the vehicle makes for a brazen look. The new variant gets a uniquely refreshed front portion, which consists of an 'SVR' bumper and an attractive grille. The sleek headlamp clusters on either side add flavour to the front. At the bottom, the wide air dam is also a handsome add-on to the appearance of the front. The bonnet comes with vents, giving an improved cooling capacity for the engine. By the side, there is a unique 'SVR' fender, along with a vent by the fender as well. The 21 inch five split spoke 'Style 517' wheels are also highlights of the car's expensive design. The sweeping body lines run parallel to the roof, blending elegantly into the wheel arches on either side. The roof gets a Santorini Black contour design. At the rear, the vehicle wears a unique 'SVR' spoiler. The tailgate is embroidered with a badge that carries the SVR logo, rendering a distinctive feel for this variant.
Interiors:
The cabin is arranged in a manner that promotes convenience for all of the occupants. There are unique SVR sports seats that come with integrated headrests, along with SVR logo. Fine upholstery is wrapped over the seats, presenting a more refined drive atmosphere for the occupants. The driver gets the added benefit of a leather wrapped steering wheel with a sporty design, along with a noble plated gear shifter. There are aluminium tread-plates with the 'Range Rover' lettering for a more sophisticated image within the place. The dark engine turned aluminium finish adds to the premium feel of the cabin. The occupants benefit from a centre armrest that comes along with a box. In addition to this, there is a pedal/footrest that reduces strain through a long drive. The front door has a mini stowage pocket with a rubber mat, and cup holders are also present at the front and rear.
Engine and Performance:
The vehicle is run by a V8 5.0-litre supercharged petrol engine. As the name suggest, it consists of 8 cylinders incorporated together, and displaces 4999cc. It gives a power of 542bhp, and a torque of 680Nm at 3500rpm to 4000rpm. Channelling the power of the engine is an 8 speed transmission that makes for effective shifting of gears.
Braking and Handling:
The company has armed its wheels with strong callipers, enabling a firm hold when driving. The chassis arrangement is secured with a four corner air suspension system. The vehicle has also been gifted with numerous techno aids that help to cement control. Firstly, the anti lock braking system keeps the wheels from locking, thereby adding to the drive stability. The braking performance is further strengthened with an electronic brakeforce distribution, a cornering brake control and an emergency brake assist. Beside all of this, there is a dynamic stability control, an electronic traction control and a torque vectoring program.
Comfort Features:
A customer configurable interior mood lighting arrangement helps to keep the cabin well illuminated always. Next, the three zone climate control function imbues the place with a pleasant and enjoyable atmosphere through the drive. The car is also provided map lights at the front, along with an auto dimming interior mirror. The meridian surround sound system comes with 19 speakers, effecting high quality entertainment on the occupants. The experience is further enhanced with an eight inch touch screen. The Bluetooth facility enables in-cabin calling, and audio streaming through devices. There are auxiliary 12V power sockets for charging phones, and a USB socket for integrating them with the car's system.
Safety Features:
A roll stability control system helps guard the vehicle's balance when driving. The front passengers are protected with airbags and height adjustable seatbelts. A keyless start stop push button is also present for comfort as well as safety. The safety of the car is ordained as well, through a perimeter alarm.
Pros:
1. Large and muscular build.
2. Impressive performance characteristics.
Cons:
1. Price range can hold-off buyers.
2. The fuel economy has room for improvement.

Engine and Transmission
Engine Type Engine type in car refers to the type of engine that powers the vehicle. There are many different types of car engines, but the most common are petrol (gasoline) and diesel engines | V-Type Engine |
Displacement (cc) The displacement of an engine is the total volume of all of the cylinders in the engine. Measured in cubic centimetres (cc) | 5000 |
Max Power Power dictates the performance of an engine. It's measured in horsepower (bhp) or metric horsepower (PS). More is better. | 567.25bhp@6000-6500rpm |
Max Torque The load-carrying ability of an engine, measured in Newton-metres (Nm) or pound-foot (lb-ft). More is better. | 700Nm@3500-4000rpm |
No. of cylinder ICE engines have one or more cylinders. More cylinders typically mean more smoothness and more power, but it also means more moving parts and less fuel efficiency. | 8 |
Valves Per Cylinder Valves let air and fuel into the cylinders of a combustion engine. More valves typically make more power and are more efficient. | 4 |
Valve Configuration Valve configuration refers to the number and arrangement of intake and exhaust valves in each engine cylinder. | DOHC |
Fuel Supply System Responsible for delivering fuel from the fuel tank into your internal combustion engine (ICE). More sophisticated systems give you better mileage. | Direct Injection |
Bore X Stroke Bore is the diameter of the cylinder, and stroke is the distance that the piston travels from the top of the cylinder to the bottom. Multiplying these two figures gives you the cubic capacity (cc) of an engine. | 92.5mmX93mm |
Compression Ratio The amount of pressure that an engine can generate in its cylinders before combustion. More compression = more power. | 9.5 |
Turbo Charger A device that forces more air into an internal combustion engine. More air can burn more fuel and make more power. Turbochargers utilise exhaust gas energy to make more power. | No |
Super Charge A device that forces more air into an internal combustion engine. More air can burn more fuel and make more power. Superchargers utilise engine power to make more power. | Yes |

Seating Capacity | 5 |
Ground Clearance Unladen (mm) The laden ground clearance is the vertical distance between the ground and the lowest point of the car when the car is empty. More ground clearnace means when fully loaded your car won't scrape on tall speedbreakers, or broken roads. | 213 |
