India faces yet another small hike in petrol prices as the government has decided to increase the commission of petrol station dealers. The price for Petrol may be hikes by as much as  30 paise per litre and 18 paise on diesel. Petrol station dealers have been demanding a raise in their commissions for a while now due to their working capital costs and frequent price changes. This, in addition to an increase in overhead costs like electricity charges have sparked this demand.

Recently we also saw the prices of LPG hiked by as much as Rs. 11.42 per cylinder in an effort to raise dealer commissions. The dealers had wanted a single price and commission of Rs. 65 per cylinder.
