In an attempt to make toll rates more affordable for the users, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has launched the FasTag Annual Pass which was announced in June 2025 by Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways. Priced at Rs 3,000, it allows cheaper toll access for up to one year or 200 trips, whichever comes first. If you are considering getting the annual subscription, here is everything you need to know.
How To Subscribe To The FasTag Annual Pass?

The FasTag Annual Pass is a one-time prepaid plan that gives you up to one year of validity or a maximum of 200 trips, whichever comes first. If the 200-trip limit is exhausted before the year ends, you will need to buy a fresh pass to continue using the benefit. That being said, here’s how you apply for one:
Step 1: Download the Rajmarg Yatra App
Get the Rajmarg Yatra app from the Play Store or the Apple App Store. The government has also mentioned that the pass can be purchased through the NHAI website, but as of now we could not find an active link for the same. The app, however, works seamlessly.
Step 2: Log In to the App
Sign in using your mobile phone number or Google ID. An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number or email ID, which you need to enter to access the app.

Step 3: Select the Annual Pass Option
On the home screen, you will see an option for ‘Annual Pass’. Tapping on it will display basic information about the FasTag Annual Pass, along with an ‘Activate’ button.

Step 4: Keep Your Vehicle Details Ready
After tapping on ‘Activate’, you will be asked for your Vehicle Registration Number (VRN). Ensure that your FasTag account has a positive balance and that the vehicle is not blacklisted, hotlisted, or under e-notice.

Step 5: Enter Vehicle Number
Input your VRN, after which a vehicle info tab will appear with your vehicle details. This screen will also confirm whether your vehicle is eligible for the Annual Pass. Review the details carefully, since the Annual Pass is non-refundable.

Step 6: Verify With OTP
Once the details are confirmed, an OTP will be sent to your registered account (the same one used in Step 2). You can also choose to receive the OTP on another mobile number if required.

Step 7: Make the Payment
After entering the OTP, you will be asked to read and accept the terms and conditions. Then proceed to make the payment of Rs 3,000 via UPI, debit or credit card, or net banking. The Annual Pass will be activated within a couple of hours, and you will receive an SMS confirmation once it goes live.

Other Important Things To Know

The FasTag Annual Pass is available only for privately registered vehicles such as cars, jeeps and vans. Commercial vehicles are not covered under this scheme.
The pass is valid only at National Highway (NH) and National Expressway (NE) fee plazas. At toll plazas located on state highways, expressways managed by state governments, or those operated by local bodies, the FasTag will continue to function as a regular tag, and the Annual Pass benefits will not apply. In such cases, you will have to pay the normal toll charges.

If you are wondering what counts as a trip under the Annual Pass, the definition depends on the type of toll plaza. At point-based fee plazas, every crossing is counted as one trip, which means a to-and-fro journey is treated as two separate trips. At closed tolling plazas, however, one complete entry-and-exit pair together is treated as a single trip.
It is also important to note that the Rs 3,000 subscription fee for the Annual Pass cannot be deducted from your existing FasTag balance. Once you complete 200 trips or one year, whichever comes first, the pass automatically reverts to a regular FasTag. To continue with the annual scheme, you will need to renew it by paying Rs 3,000.
