With an annual production of 21.48 million vehicles in FY 2013-14, Indian auto industry is one of the largest in the world. It accounts for 22 per cent of the country's manufacturing Gross Domestic Product (GDP). But alongside this amazing news, stands some horrifying facts. In the year 2013 alone, over 1,37,000 people were killed in road accidents with approximately 1214 road crashes occurring every day in the country.
Looking at the above figures, road safety is no longer a topic to be discussed, rather it's a necessity which has to be obliged by the drivers as well as the automobile manufacturers. Vehicles today come equipped with loads of safety features like the ABS, EBD, ESP and AEB but all these features are used to prevent the car from having a crash. Airbags, on the other hand, protect the occupants when the vehicle has met with an accident.
