Earlier the Ford Ikon was available only with the 1.3 Rocam petrol variant but now Ford Ikon 1.4 Duratorq TDCi being available in the diesel version is a much better option. This new engine is much more fuel efficient, highly turbo charged and is a common-rail direct injection type that is excellently capable to deliver a high grade fuel economy with amazing torque capacity. 1.4 DuraTorq TDCi engine is a 4-in-line type engine. This engine of Ford Ikon is capable of delivering a displacement of 1399cc. Moreover the engine of the car has a compression ratio of 18:1, maximum power being delivered by the Ford Ikon is 68PS at the rate of 4000 rpm and the torque being delivered by the car is 160Nm at the rate of 2000rpm, all with the five speed manual transmission.

Looking to the suspension of the Ford Ikon we have Independent McPherson struts with separate sub-frame for the front brakes while it is Heavy duty twist-beam with strut-type coil spring / damper units for the rear side. With Power assisted rack and pinion (PAS) steering it has a coil spring. Considering the brakes the car has ventilated disc type brakes in the front while on the other hand it has drum type brakes on the rear side. Radial tubeless tyres provide greater stability of the car to the road. With a minimum turning radius of 5 meters and a fuel tank capacity of 43 liters the new Ford Ikon is highly capacitive.

Now looking to the safety and security side of new Ford Ikon it has high strength tubular door beams, evenly crash absorbing zones, collapsible steering column, front seatbelt load limiters, anti submarine seats, windscreens are laminated and are highly glazed, the rear door locks are equipped with child safety, front lamps for fog, rear side view mirror for both day/night, central locking system, fuel filler cap is remote operated, headlamps are highly sparkling and evenly very clear. Looking to the comfort and convenience of the car it is equipped with standard AC, heater, power steering, the front and the rear windows are power equipped, outside mirrors are internally adjustable. For the luggage the space inside the Ford Ikon is nearly 400 liters.

As we have already discussed, Ford Ikon is available with both petrol and diesel powered variants. It is available with four variants out of which its two variants are powered by 1.3L, petrol engine while its rest of two variants are powered by 1.4L, Duratorq diesel engine. The petrol variants of Ford Ikon are powered by 1.3L, 1297cc, Rocam petrol engine with SEFI Fuel System and new EEC V module. This new electronic module helps in fuel economy, smooth engine operation, low emission and quick fault diagnosis. This engine gives 12kmpl mileage in city while on highway it gives 16.5kmpl mileage.

On the other hand, rest two variants of Ford Ikon that is powered by 1.4L, 1399cc, Duratorq, Common Rail Direct Injection Diesel engine with TDCi fuel injection system offers record breaking fuel efficiency with excellent torque. This engine offers mileage 14kmpl in city while 17.8kmpl on highway.

And the next engine option of Ford Ikon is its most popular 1.4L, 1399cc, Duratorq common Rail Diesel engine with five speed manual gearbox and with TDCi fuel injection system that can produce maximum power of 68PS at 4000rpm and maximum torque of 160Nm at 2000rpm. This Duratorq engine of Ford Ikon is well known for delivering high engine performance with excellent fuel efficiency.

Ford Ikon is available in seven vibrant colors that are Paprika Red, Platinum, Moondust Silver, Brush Steel, Morello, Diamond White and Panther Black.

The diesel variants of Ford Ikon are equipped with a 1.4L, 1399cc, Duratorq diesel engine with five speed manual gearbox and with TDCi fuel injection system. This Duratorq diesel engine is well known for delivering high performance and excellent acceleration with better fuel efficiency and currently it is also powering the Ford Fiesta. This 1399cc power-plant makes Ford Ikon able to cross the mark of 100kmph in just 13.8 seconds and to touch the top speed mark of 159kmph.

The petrol engine equipped Ford Ikon that is powered by a 1.3L, 1297cc, Rocam petrol engine with five speed manual gearbox and with SEFI fuel injection system. This Rocam petrol engine of Ford Ikon also delivers better engine performance and good acceleration so that it can cross the mark of 100kmph in just 15.2 seconds and it can achieve the top speed mark of 156kmph.
