I too got the front suspension of my Etios Liva replaced with a better quality one after I wrote to Toyota Japan. Indian guys @ Toyota Kirloskar Motors have typical Indian mentality and are waste. They do not resolve any of your complaints but complicate.

  • Alex |15 Feb,2013 09:18:58 AM

Mr ravikaran, I would like to know what you did after receiving the letter from Toyota kirloskar, did you call their customer service and talked to them about the issue or did you take your liva to the dealer before talking to Toyota. what exactly Toyota dealer did to fix the suspension, did they replace the suspension completely and put a brand new suspension or did they just repair it, (front/rear or both) . How is your suspension now especially when your liva is loaded with people, I am really curious to know. Please advice Thanks Alex

Hello Alex/Ravi Kiran, I got my etios delivered last week and would like to know what is the issue you faced with suspension? Did you mention it somewhere on this site? All I could see here is the email from Toyota Japan to Alex. I would like to read the original issue. Also, please let me know the email id of Toyota Japan. Thanks

    Alex |22 Mar,2013 05:59:03 AM

Absolutely, it is a wonderful car if not for the suspension and our family really enjoys it, it's not unusual for a car company to make cars without understanding the local broken roads especially in rural areas and design cars that are good for urban areas, this is one exception even with Toyota the otherwise Great. They realized their mistake and taking remedy by fixing the suspension only when you complain to the dealer(not through a general recall) , I just got my suspension fixed, my dealer installed a spacer in the rear shocks that increased the ground clearance in the rear by 4cm and also installed tougher struts in the front that has more dampening and everything seem to be perfect now, no noise from the front or rear, no kissing of speed breakers any more. Toyota was too cooperative in this matter as they always are. My cars ground clearance is almost same as the clearance of innova(just a tad shorter), immagine your liva driving like innova over speed bumps, just a comparison for joke purpose. Now I am wondering if I can install hydraulic engine mount as in 2013 Liva's.

Undoubdtly TOYOTA cars are the best in the world in terms of quality, performance & customer satisfaction. But i still believe that prices are slightly higer side compare to other brands available in india.TOYOTA streitegy should be to reach their product to middle class custmer first, instead of earn profit for few years to establish theire brand in india. They should also arrange cheaper interest loan facility at dealer itself to increase sales volume.

Alex sir I want help in solving my problem of purchasing car between Swift and Etios Liva which car would be better for me pl let me Know at harjeetsingh4747@gmail.com

    Alex |16 Apr,2013 02:22:18 AM

Hello Harjeet singh Sir, If you are not for fancy looks and don't want to show off your car to others, Liva is not a car for you but on the other hand, if you are in the market for a most reliable and practical car that will accommodate 5 big adults with best milage and provide trouble free ownership, saving your hard earned money for years to come, then Liva is the most best car out there in Indian market today. Even the looks (inside and outside) is debatable, it actually depends on individuals taste and perception, I personally like the practical, conservative and non offending design. If you have ever owned ambassador in the past, this little car (Liva) would very well provide the same comfort that ambassador provided you without any dent to your pocket. All you might need to do in the future is to put bigger wheels (15 inches) that come in Liva petrol which would be your only additional investment and that too only if you wanted to. you and your family are thoroughly going to enjoy this car. you are never going to regret your purchase in the future.

Hi, I am planning to buy LIVA very soon but after reading this post I am bit worried about the suspension as at my home town the roads are like anything even the best suspension will stop working :(. So please provide me your feedback, do I need to think about the other options. And if I will stick to LIVA then what exactly i need to ask dealer replace the suspension. Thanks in advance.

    Alex |05 May,2013 08:44:29 PM

Hello, you don't need to worry about the suspension in Liva anymore since Toyota has upgraded the suspension(both front and rear) in the 2013 version and in that process firmed up and improved the dampening rate, so there is absolutely no worries. They are even upgrading the suspension for free, in prior 2013 Liva models, if you complain and provided your car is still under warranty, like how they fixed my 2012 Liva suspension issues. My place has more beaten roads than any other place in India and my Liva rides really good now after the suspension upgrade. No more sagging in the rear or kissing the speed breaker or thud noise in the front for that matter, since they increased the ground clearance from 170mm to close to 174mm. Adding spacers to the rear shocks really did the trick, fixing the sagging issue when your car is dumped with passengers or heavy stuff in the boot. Hope this helps.

I got my Liva suspension changed by dealer in 3rd service free of cost. Now they have replaced with new improved suspension. Rest is no issue. Maintainace free car. Good Deal!! I have impression, Toyata giving the best services in India & rest of the world. It is world first car manufacturer. They know the need of the customer very well.

    Dr Vanita Ray |09 May,2013 09:18:30 PM

I am planning to buy an Etios Liva but after reading all the adverse reviews as regards the suspension of the vehicl;e am getting somewhat nervous. Please advise and let me know as to what the exact position is. Vanita Ray

    Alex |10 May,2013 06:51:37 AM

Hello Dr Vanita Ray, As I said in my earlier posting, the new 2013 Etios Liva has upgraded suspension, you don't need to worry about the suspension problem any more .If my 2012 suspension problem is fixed by Toyota then they would have defenitely fixed the problem in the 2013 version of Liva. Toyota is a company that reads people's mind than any other company in the world and upgrade their product periodically, otherwise they wouldn't be number one in the whole world, so if you are still nervous why can't you do a test drive in a road where there are lot of speed bumps and confirm yourself. I am telling this based on my experience with different Toyota products I owned in the past and present. I have never spent extra money on a Toyota product other than for filling petrol/diesel and for regular scheduled maintenance. Hope this helps. Alex

  • sadi |19 May,2013 01:32:20 PM

Hi Alex, Excellent info, thank you. I just got one quick question, How are their service's priced? and how are spares costed in comparison to Suzuki?. Thank you for your time in advance.

    Alex |07 Jun,2013 11:03:45 PM

Hi Sadi My first service was totally free, during my 10000 kms service my cars suspension got upgraded, all the fluids were topped up,oil filter changed, cars interior and exterior thoroughly cleaned up, so including labor charge for all the above services the total bill came to Rs 2100 which is really reasonable I feel. Hope this helps. Alex

Dear Alex I booked the LIVA GD-SP, please tell me the price of Accessories, whether we can purchase from toyoto itself or can go for other shop is better??? acc like rear spoiler, body cover, carpet, seat cover.

    Alex |09 Jul,2013 07:59:20 PM

Dear jagadish, Go to http://www.toyotabharat.com/inen/forms/price_list.aspx, select your State and City and then the dealer where you bought your car from, Click Visit dealer Website link under dealer name, now Click Accessories/Productwise Accessories/Price list, this will give you price for all OEM accessories toyota sells starting with Liva followed by price for all other cars. you might have to pay little more in addition to the price displayed here. In my case, I mixed and matched accessories from toyota and from outside(Auto shops), Rule is anything that may affect your warranty, its better off if you buy it from Toyota and install it there, you will have good peace of mind just in case. Hope this helps Alex

    Alex |09 Jul,2013 08:02:33 PM

for an instance, following are some of the accessories I put on my car rear spoiler with light from outside for 1800 RS, Toyota charges 6000 Rs for this. savings 4200 Rs Double din toyota Corolla Cd player 3000 RS from ebay on this one and it fitted perfectly, Savings 5000 Rs Bumper corner protector toyota 600Rs look ugly(rubber Black color) I bought body colored(silver with red reflector lights) for 300Rs form a auto shop and put it in the rear and front which blended really well with the exterior. body colored strip with chrome lining, on both sides of the car for another 2000Rs, this saves your car from scratches. Chrome A/C vent rings Toyota 2000 Rs, I bought from Auto shop for 1200 Rs, Savings 800Rs, vinyl floor liners 5000 Rs from outside, easy to clean your car In addition to above, I put fog lights, roots horn, security system, backup sensor from Toyota all for 10000 Rs one of my friend put innova front seats with adjustable head rests, in his 2012 Liva and it fits perfectly, he paid 10000 RS for that, I don't have any intention to do this though this is yet another option available. Alex |09 Jul,2013 08:04:33 PM

I am also planning to stick 3m carbon fiber paper to the dash center console which would spruce up the interior like this one(just for the center console) which you can remove, stick the vinyl paper and put it back http://www.flickr.com/photos/notjustshrawan/7060965229/

    Mateen |16 Mar,2015 12:44:54 AM

I have a Liva Petrol G SP July 2014 model. Gray color. Excellent car, i rate it better than swift in space, comfort and long term ownership cost. Service intervals are at 10000 kms / once a year! Toyota service ( Harsha Toyota, in hyd) is simply excellent!) I practically race my car every time i drive it, the steering feedback is spot on. Went to goa from hyd in jan15, my liva handled the ghat section with great poise around so many corners and hairpin bends! The combination of steering, excellent brakes (ABS) and perfect suspension setup truly deserves to be acknowledged! Great peace if mind with this super fun and practical car! I will keep it for 7 years atleast! Pls go ahead and buy one if you are planning. Would suggest to go for topend models which come with bigger wheels, tacho, rear wiper.
