The presence of the car can be felt as soon as it appears in front of us. It has an amazing design. The Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs) add to the overall look. Projector headlamps inspire a lot of confidence during night driving (these are automatic headlamps which double up as follow me lamps). PS: styling is dependent on one's own preferences. The interiors, including features, space and omfort are amazing. It is a bold step by Maruti to go for all black interiors. Kudos for it though. Never ending legroom is a big plus for this car. To add to this two airbags, ABS and EBD as standard form base variants is great. Interior features like the 7-inch touchscreen is quite responsive with preloaded maps, Apple Carplay, display even doubles up as a reversing cam, parking sensors, voice command which is able to recognise Indian accents, boot lamp, 3 reading lamps, illuminated glove box and boot, auto climate control, amazing speakers 4+2 with awesome sound quality, extremely detailed MID with tonnes of information and graphics (real time average, distance to empty, real-time power and torque display, driving pattern, detail information of each drive when one turns off the car,). The cae has enough space to keep knick-knacks and four 1-litre bottle holders. Speaking of the engine performance, fuel economy and gearbox, all are very smooth and work well. Average wise, the car is outstanding. I have driven 1,710km in 24 days. City average is 23.7kmpl and on highways was 25.2kmpl. The engine is a bit noisy and audible at low speeds of around 40-45kmph, after that, it gets quite and the engine never lacks a punch after 1800 rpm. Gearbox is smooth and easy to shift. Ride quality and handling is good and small potholes are taken down without any fuss, without loosing comfort at any given time. The car handles really well even at the speed of 135-140kmph and you never feel that the car is out of control. The confidence that the car inspires makes you feel really comfortable and worry free. I had booked Elite i20. earlier, I never wanted to buy the Baleno after looking at the bhp figure of just 74. When I took a test drive of the Baleno, I was impressed like anything. The figure of 74bhp can be misleading as the weight of the car less. The strength is also improved with the use of new age materials. 74bhp is truly impressive and the car is a delight to drive. TRULY MADE OF METTLE. Areas of improvement: Noise of engine that enters into the cabin. Apart from this, it has no real issues and I can easily say Baleno would dislodge i20 as the leader of premium hatchback segment.
