Zest Revotron 1.2T Anniversary Edition Review
Tata Motors has introduced the Anniversary Edition of Zest, which is a compact sedan. This particular variant Tata Zest Revotron 1.2T Anniversary Edition is offered with an 'Anniversary' pack that includes nearly ten additional features. In terms of exteriors, these include body colored front lower bumper, new wheel covers, piano black finished ORVMs, Anniversary theme body graphics, metal badge on C pillar, and its availability in the new Vocal White color. Meanwhile, its interiors include bottle holder on floor console, powered rear windshield curtain with remote, scuff plate with illumination at front and Anniversary embroidery on front seats. Under the hood, it carries the Revotron 1.2T petrol motor that is paired with a five speed manual transmission gear box. This four cylinder mill can deliver 88.76bhp in combination with 140Nm torque. Other highlights in this trim include electric power assisted steering column for easy handling, ConnectNext infotainment by Harman for the best entertainment and an instrument panel for updates about the vehicle. A few other aspects like driver seat belt reminder, dual front airbags, and immobilizer are offered to provide maximum security to its occupants. Coming to its dimensions, it is built with a total length of 3995mm along with height and width of 1570mm and 1706mm respectively. These dimensions are quite generous for a compact sedan and indicates ample room inside.
Exteriors:
The car maker has brought it into the market in the new Vocal White color. It has a stylish body structure equipped with some remarkable aspects. At front, there is a perforated radiator grille with company's insignia neatly embossed in the center. The thick chrome strips around it gives it a bold yet trendy look. On either sides of this grille, there are large projector headlamps incorporated along with turn indicators. The windscreen is fitted with a couple of wipers, whereas the bumper has an air dam as well as bright fog lamps. This special edition has its lower bumper painted in body color. On the sides, it has a set of 15 inch steel wheels fitted to its flared up wheel arches. New wheel covers as well as tubeless radial tyres of size 185/60 R15 adorn these rims. The outside rear view mirrors in piano black finish are decent, and further integrated with LED side turn blinkers. Meanwhile the metal badge on C pillar looks distinctive. The attractive body graphics in 'Anniversary theme' further increases its appeal. Moving to the rear end, the stylish boot lid comes engraved with firm's badge and is flanked by LED tail lamps. Also, the bumper, windscreen and a roof mounted antenna gives a complete look to its rear profile.
Interiors:
It has a roomy internal cabin that looks amazing in a dual tone - 'Latte and Java Black' color scheme. The way its cockpit is designed is quite impressive. Some advanced equipments are fitted on its dashboard like an instrument panel, steering wheel, air vents and a center console. There are well cushioned seats incorporated for around five people. These are integrated with headrests and covered with fabric upholstery. Additionally, the Anniversary embroidery on front seats makes it look unique. The scuff plates at front are illuminated, while there are bottle holders provided on floor console for added convenience. The powered rear windshield curtain with remote is another new feature in this trim. The fabric inserts on door trims, key ring illumination and aluminum finish on gear shift lever further increases its elegance. Besides these, it also has storage drawer under co-passenger's seat, boot lamp, assist grips, door co-ordinated cabin lights and a few other useful aspects.
Engine and Performance:
Under the bonnet is a 1.2-litre, Revotron petrol engine that comes with a displacement capacity of 1193cc. It carries four cylinders that are integrated with 16 valves. This motor comes with a multi point fuel injection system and paired with a 5-speed manual transmission gear box. It can generate a maximum power of 88.76bhp at 5000rpm besides yielding a peak torque of 140Nm in the range of 1500 to 4000rpm. It can return around 18 Kmpl on highways and 15 Kmpl within the city. On the other hand, it requires nearly 15 seconds for this trim to break the 100 Kmph speed mark and attains a top speed of 150 to 155 Kmph approximately.
Braking and Handling:
Its braking system is quite reliable wherein, its front wheels are equipped with disc brakes and the rear ones get drum brakes. Also, this mechanism is assisted by ABS with EBD. In terms of suspension, the front axle is assembled with a dual path, independent McPherson strut and anti roll bar. Whereas the rear one is affixed with a twist beam. Both these are further loaded with coil springs for making the drive smooth and comfortable. Aside from these, the electric power assisted steering column also helps in its handling. It has tilt adjustment function and even supports the minimum turning radius of 5.1 meters.
Comfort Features:
This special edition ensures high level of comfort to all its occupants through its various practical features. To begin with its air conditioning unit, it comes with a heater and aids in regulating the temperature inside. The ConnectNext infotainment system by Harman guarantees good entertainment. It has AM, FM radio tuner, four speakers and tweeters as well. It also supports iPod and Bluetooth connectivity. All its windows are power operated, whereas the driver's seat gets height adjustment facility. There is vanity mirror on passenger sunvisor, while the outside mirrors are electrically adjustable. Other aspects like speed dependent volume control, phonebook access, fuel consumption display, steering mounted with audio controls, gear shift indicator, digital fuel gauge and a few others adds to their convenience.
Safety Features:
The automaker has packed it with some significant features that provide maximum protection to its occupants. Some of these include remote central locking, engine immobilizer, door open indicator, driver seat belt reminder with buzzer, speed dependent auto door lock system. There are airbags available for driver and co-passenger, while it has pretensioner and load limiter for front seat belts. It also has the advanced anti lock braking system along with electronic brake force distribution and corner stability control that adds to the safety quotient.
