Tata Motors is the eight largest auto maker in the world and operates its business from India. It is a home bred multinational company which has been in the auto segment since decades. It is also the fourth largest automaker in India. The company has produced some of the best and most affordable passenger cars and SUVs for the country. One of the most popular SUVs from their esteemed stable is the Tata Sumo Gold, which is undoubtedly one of the high performance vehciel available in the market. However, the company is witnessing downfall in its sales due to heavy competition in the country from other automotive manufacturers. In what seems like a bid to arrest their falling sales, the company has introduced a few redefined models of their existing vehicles. It also introduced the modified version of its flagship SUV Tata Sumo Gold in several variants and with two diesel engine types. The Tata Sumo Gold CX BSIII is the entry level version available in its series and it comes at a very attractive price of Rs. 5.70 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), which is impressive. The company has made some cosmetic updates to this entry level trim or perhaps to all the variants available in its lineup. With this, the facelifted Tata Sumo Gold gets fresh new style and looks that will surely get the attention of SUV freaks. Also the company has made few changes to the interior design of this SUV, which will add more excitement for the occupants inside. Now this sports utility vehicle is placed against the SUV models from Mahindra & Mahindra in the Indian auto market.

Exteriors:

The facelifted version of the new Tata Sumo Gold CX BSIII gets a few major cosmetic updates to its exterior design. It comes with a fresh new look, which is exhilarating and equally stylish compared to other SUVs in its class. The company has made changes to its front facade, side profile and to its rear end, which resulted in a brand new looking Tata Sumo Gold. To begin with the front facade, this entry level SUV comes with a redesigned front radiator grille, which is incorporated with two chrome slats. The company logo has been fitted in the middle of the grille and in between the chrome slats. There is a chrome strip placed on top of the hood right above the grille that brings a premium and rich look. There are stylish clear lens head lamps fitted which also includes side indicators. While this entry level version also gets the stylish body colored bumper with air dam integrated on to it for a better air intake to cool the engine. The side profile of this SUV looks even better with a new designer decals (body graphics) along with black colored outside rear view mirrors and door handles. While its wheel arches have been fitted with 15 inch steel wheels which are further fitted with 215/75 R15 sized tubeless tyres. A stylish side footstep is also offered with this entry level variant that will add more conveniences to the passengers. Despite being the entry level trim in Tata Sumo Gold lineup, this SUV trim gets a refresing interior cabin with some standard equipments integrated. Engine and Performance:

The company has built one of the high performance engines for its flagship SUV Tata Sumo Gold. However, this Tata Sumo Gold CX BSIII entry level trim comes with a powerful 3.0-litre diesel engine which is compliant with the BSIII emission norms. This SUV is equipped with 4SP, TCIC diesel engine that has the displacing capacity of about 2956cc, which can produce a maximum power of 68.6bhp at 3000rpm, while yielding a peak torque output of 223Nm at 1600 to 2000rpm. This engine is coupled with a G-76-5/4.1, 5-speed manual transmission gearbox with overdrive that transmits the engine power through the front wheel and produces superior performance.

Braking and Handling:

Tata Motors has incorporated the basic and standard braking and handling mechanism that may not be top class but works efficiently in all conditions. This Tata Sumo Gold CX BSIII trim's front wheels have been fitted with ventilated disc brake type of a mechanism, while drum brakes are fitted to its rear wheels. When it comes to the suspension, this SUV gets a double wishbone type of suspension that functions along with coil spring and anti-roll bar type of mechanism.

Safety Features:

This Tata Sumo Gold CX BSIII entry level trim in the lineup is blessed with some standard safety and security features. Some of these safety aspects include the side intrusion beams on all doors and rear high mount stop lamps along with a list of few other features. The company is also offering the provision for integrating the advanced engine immobilizer system that will prove helpful for you keep this SUV secure from any unauthorized entry.

Comfort Features:

When it comes to the comfort and convenience aspects inside this SUV, they are pretty decent with good seating arrangement along with some interior features. However, one shouldn't expect for highly advanced features inside this entry level SUV as the price is less. This facelifted version of the Tata Sumo Gold comes with an attractive 36 months/100,000 kilometers warranty (only for personal use). While the there is a 24 months/75,000 kilometers warranty provided for commercial use of this SUV.
