Pulse 2012-2014 RxE Review
Renault Pulse recently launched from the house of Renault is already winning hearts. Within the first week of its launch the Renault Pulse has got rave reviews from car enthusiasts. The much awaited car is considered the second big achievement of the company after the much applauded Koleos.The new Renault Pulse Petrol R×E shares its looks with Nissan Micra, The reason behind this may be the joint venture production of Renault and Nissan.The afore mentioned car has successfully completed all the testing and its criteria’s needed for attaining BS IV stage emission compliances, which means less CO2 emissions and thus a very low maintenance cost. Hence, Renault presents a cleaner and greener car on the platter which is not even hard on pocket. The car is a perfect vehicle for executive class daily commuters as well as nuclear families. This compact yet roomy car has an overall length of 3805 mm and width and height of 1655mm and 1530mm respectively. The total wheelbase counts to 2450mm. Renault Pulse Petrol R×E sports a boot space of 251 liters, which is exceptionally a good volume compared to the given design and compactness of the car. The Indian auto market is already positively buzzing with the launch of Renault Pulse because of its compact yet chic looks. The car is a perfect package when it comes to styling as well as premium comfort.
Exterior
Out are the black plastic bumpers and keeping the trends in mind Renault Pulse Petrol R×E comes in body coloured bumpers, which are eye catching yet easy on design. The car is stylish yet comfortable. The crisp exteriors with green tinted mirrors add panache to the overall look, yet are practical in hot Indian summer. The rear of the car keeps up the look with added D shaped lamps. The rear of the car is a little curvier than Micra, here is where the car makes it mark. Exteriors are all in all built to keep young customers in mind and to keep up with the increasing competition in the small car segment of India.The colour options which Renault India offers to choose from are Champagne Gold, Metallic Grey, Metallic Red, Metallic Silver, Pearl White and Solid Black.
Interiors
In its league when it comes to interiors. Renault Pulse Petrol R×E cabin which very well adjusts 5 people is comfortable yet posh. The dual toned dashboard sits very well with the effect of premium look of the car.The front cabin comes mounted with customary lamp which is worth mentioning because add on feature provides enough illumination to comfortably read a book. Two cup and bottle holders are provided in the front whereas one in the back for managing the space better and also helping in keeping the interiors spill free. Another good space management done by Renault India is the provision of two trim pockets in the front. Nowadays seems like customary but a very useful feature, internal fuel release lid is also a part of the feature package .
Engine and performance (power mileage, acceleration, and pick up)
Under the Bonnet one will find a roaring 3 cylinder, in-line petrol, DOHC 12 valve engine which out turns a displacement of a whopping 1198 cc with maximum power of 73bhp along with hot-putting torque of 104Nm. Renault Pulse Petrol RxE is geared up with a 5 speed manual gear box with the electronic fuel injection control system. Renault India claims it would deliver 14 kmpl on city roads while a crowning 18 kmpl on the highways.
Breaking and handling
For enhanced safety, ventilated disc brakes are installed in the front while customary drum brakes are mounted in the rear of Renault Pulse Petrol RxE. Radial tyres of the size 165/70R14 are used in the car for better grip on the roads.
Safety feature
Providing maximum safety has become a must for every car maker and one of the best examples is the Renault Pulse Petrol RxE. This car comes equipped with driver side airbag which helps in preventing abrupt collision of the head. Another speed safety feature is the provision of high mounted stop lamps which will immediately glow on applying the brakes and will help in notifying the following car. It also comes with a smart feature called child proof lock provided in the rear doors . Renault Pulse comes equipped with technologically advanced anti theft feature as well. Another feather in the cap of Renault India is when it comes to safety is immobilizer which locks steering wheel in case of forceful entry. The car has power steering which ensures a stress free drive.
Comfort features
Renault Pulse Petrol RxE with its lush interiors and roomy car cabin is no less when it comes to comfort. With its premium comfort features and technologically advanced features, Renault Pulse is fun to ride and drive as well. Few features which are customary in every car are also fitted in Renault Pulse as well. Tilt Adjustable Steering to adjust the steering as per different heights of the driver is an advanced feature which enhances comfort level and gives ultimate driving experience. There are also few reminder option which comes pre installed in this car viz. headlamp ‘on’ reminder which will remind a driver to turn off the headlamps if he/she turns off the engine without turning the off the headlamps. Another feature just like this is key-off reminder which will start beeping if a driver will open the door without taking the keys out of the ignition panel.
Pros
Renault Pulse Petrol RxE gives good mileage. It is compact but with enough leg room and head space for a comfortable ride. Car is ergonomically advanced when it comes to fittings which take care of lumbar and neck support. The highlight is the ample boot space for a small car like Renault Pulse.
Cons
No CD player is installed in this car as a music system now come pre installed with even basic cars like Hyundai i10. Even after giving much emphasis on safety, Renault India has decided to not to provide ABS in Renault Pulse Petrol RxE.
