Ritz VXi (ABS) Review
Maruti Ritz at the time of its launch was one of the most hyped and awaited car from Maruti India. This hatchback has been placed in the premium A2 segment in which the company's Maruti Alto, WagonR, Swift, Zen and A-Star stand. The car is sold in other countries by the name Splash, but the company has decided to rename the Splash as Ritz for the Indian market. It is based on a totally new platform; the production version has some design cues of the Swift and SX4, interspersed with a C-pillar design that harks back to the concept. However the rear of the car does not sweep down but in fact runs almost straight to give this car a tall boy stance. The car comes with supremely refined engine options in petrol and diesel and its high quality interiors are extremely roomy and spacious. Maruti Ritz VXI (ABS) is powered by an 83.8bhp K series petrol engine which comes with a displacement of 1197cc and delivers a decent amount of power and torque to the car. The car has a very impressive interior that offers a stylish and unadulterated looks. The car is also packed with many comfort and safety features like ABS, power steering, Air conditioner, power windows and central locking.
Exterior
The car has very dynamic and sporty exteriors which can easily attract lot of people in just a single glimpse. The car has undefined exterior and merges well with its elegant design. The roof line of the car flows in an arc to combine with the vertical rear windows to convey a sense of liveliness and also boost the aerodynamic efficiency. At the front the car has simple horizontal grille with the chrome finished Suzuki Logo between the curved headlights which perfectly match with the aerodynamic design and offers a stylish look. It has front and rear fog lamps that allow easy driving in case of bad weather condition. The body colored bumpers and internally adjusted ORVMs gives this car a more dynamic exterior . The alloy wheels in the car add some beauty to the side profile of the car. The exterior dimensions of Maruti Ritz are length – 3715mm, width – 1680mm and height – 1620mm. the car has a wheel base of 2360mm with a ground clearance of 170mm.
Interior
The interior of this hatch has been designed keeping the needs of the driver in mind. The all new compact Maruti Ritz has very roomy and spacious interiors that offer you the supreme pleasure and comfort. Ritz offer plenty of cabin space and seating and driving comfort. The dash mounted gearshift and adjustable height of seats, the driving gets more enjoyable. The car also has many storage options throughout the cabin making the Ritz convenient and accessible. Along with the height adjustable seats, the Ritz also has the height adjustable seat belt that makes driving more secure. The car is designed with well defined fabric upholstery that matched perfectly with the ambience of the car. The instrumentation panel of the car includes the Tachometer, Electronic Multi trip meter and digital clock. Maruti Ritz is also affixed with an effective Air Conditioner with heater .
Engine and Performance
Maruti Ritz VXI (ABS) is powered by a 4 cylinder K series petrol engine which comes with a displacement of 1197cc . The 4 cylinder engine has 4 valves per cylinder in DOHC configuration and generated a maximum power of 83.8bhp at the rate of 6000rpm and a peak torque of 113Nm at the rate of 4500rpm. The engine with this power and acceleration can readily accelerate the car from 0-100kmph in 13.7 seconds and can reach a top speed of 164kmph. The car is extremely fuel efficient and provides a mileage of 14.5kmpl in the city roads and of 18kmpll on the highway. The fuel tank capacity of the car is 43 liters so that you can travel a distance of 433kms without refueling once full tank. The engine is complied with BS IV emission standard which is the Bharat Stage Emission Norm IV by the Government of India to check the pollution caused by the internal combustion engine. The car also has Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) emission control system; it works by recirculating a portion of engines exhaust gas back to the cylinders.
Braking and Handling
Maruti Ritz has a very well sound and dynamic braking system that offers a very safe drive to its passengers. In the front the car has ventilated disc brakes while in the rear there are drum brakes. This is further improved by addition of ABS (Anti Lock Braking System); which avoids locking of tyres in case of instant application of brakes. To provide a comfortable ride Ritz has a good suspension system, McPherson strut with coil spring at the front while Torsion beam and coil spring at the rear. For handling the car has power steering with Collapsible steering column that provides a turn radius of 4.7m. The dash mounted gearbox is Electronic Assisted Rack and pinion type that readily falls in to hand .

Maruti Ritz is one of the safe cars with many advanced safety features. The car is packed with active and passive safety features to protect you from any injurious in case of an accident. The passive features in the car include the Central Locking, power door locks, child safety locks , day and night rear view mirror, passenger side rear view mirror, Halogen headlamps, Rear seat belts with seat belt warning, Door ajar warning, side impact beam, Engine check warning, Engine immobilizer and adjustable keys. The active safety features in the car includes the ABS which avoid skidding of the car by avoiding the locking of wheels in case of sudden application of brakes.

The seat height adjuster in the car is a superb combination and offers a comfortable drive; the tilt power steering of the car allows us to customize the steering according to our need. The steering mounted audio control offers a control to the audio system, the power windows both in the front and the rear. Other basic comfort features in the car are Remote trunk opener, Remote fuel lid opener, Low fuel warning light, Accessory power outlet, Vanity mirror , rear seat headrest and cup holders.
