Xylo H9 Review

Mahindra and Mahindra has launched the latest version of its multi utility vehicle, Xylo in the country's car market. It is available in several variants with two diesel engine options. This Mahindra Xylo H9 trim is incorporated with a 2.2-litre, mHawk diesel engine that is compliant with BS IV emission norms. It has the ability to produce maximum power of 118bhp along with a peak torque output of 280Nm. This mill is mated with a new 5-speed manual transmission gear box that helps in smoother gear shifts. Its gets an updated suspension system that is based on the comfort drive technology. The refreshed interiors look appealing with a black and beige color scheme. It includes a new 2-DIN music system that includes wireless connectivity for controlling audio functions with Bluetooth. Moreover, it also gets a newly designed instrument cluster, digital information system as well as flexible 60:40 split folding rear seat in the third row. This variant is blessed with many notable exterior aspects like a new chrome highlighted headlight cluster, revamped bumpers and tail lights with chrome inserts. The radiator grille is also revised, while there are also a stylish set of alloy wheels and classy decals that adds to its appearance. It is blessed with vital safety aspects like ABS with EBD, central locking system and a few others. This vehicle is presently offered in six attractive color options for the customers to select from. These include Mist Silver, Java Brown, Toreador Red finish, Dolphin Grey, Fiery Black and Diamond White as well. It faces competition from Chevrolet Enjoy, Nissan Evalia, Toyota Innova and Maruti Ertiga in the market. It comes with a standard warranty of three years or 1,00,000 Kilometers, whichever is earlier and this period can be further increased at an additional cost.

Exteriors:

The front fascia has a revised radiator grille with vertically positioned slats that is flanked by a headlight cluster. It is integrated with high intensity headlamps and turn indicators as well. The revamped bumper is fitted with a [pair of fog lamps and an air dam that cools the engine quickly. There are a couple of intermittent wipers fitted to its wide windscreen. The side profile looks quite eye catching with aspects like body colored door handles and outside rear view mirrors. It also has body graphics, which further gives it an attractive look. Its wheel arches are equipped with a set of 15 inch alloy wheels that are covered with tubeless radial tyres of size 215/75 R15 that ensure a strong grip on roads. Moreover, it includes a side step and body cladding that completes the look of its side profile. Coming to the rear end, it has a body colored bumper and a large windscreen with defogger as well as wiper. It has a sporty illuminated spoiler with high mount stop lamp, while the large boot lid has company's badge engraved on it.

Interiors:

This high end trim is blessed with a spacious internal cabin that is beautifully decorated with beige and black color scheme. It has well cushioned seats that are covered with premium Italian leather upholstery. The driver's seat has height adjustment facility, while there is a flexible 60:40 split folding seat in the third row. The dashboard looks stylish with a new instrument cluster and a center console with dark grey wood finish. The occupants are offered with enough leg, head as well as shoulder room. Other aspects in the cabin include a large glove box, air vents, driver seat storage tray, front sun visors and a few other aspects.

Engine and Performance:

This Mahindra Xylo H9 trim is powered by a 2.2-litre, mHawk engine, which comes with a displacement capacity of 2179cc. It is integrated with 4-cylinders and 16-valves using DOHC based valve configuration. This motor is incorporated with a common rail based direct injection fuel supply system, which helps in delivering 10 Kmpl in the city traffic conditions. At the same time, it has the ability of producing 15 Kmpl on the highways as well. It is mated with a new five speed manual transmission gear box. This diesel mill can churn out a maximum power of 118.3bhp at 4000rpm in combination with a peak torque of 280Nm in the range of 2400 to 2800rpm. This MUV has the capacity of achieving a top speed of approximately 150 to 156 Kmph, while it can accelerate from 0-100 Kmph in close to 15-16 seconds.

Braking and Handling:

The manufacturer has given this trim an efficient suspension and braking mechanism. Its front axle is assembled with a double wishbone type of mechanism with independent front suspension. While the rear axle is fitted with multi link coil spring. On the other hand, its front wheels are fitted with a set of disc brakes and the rear wheels get a set of drum brakes. It is further augmented by ABS along with electronic brake force distribution. It is bestowed with a power steering system, which makes handling convenient. This steering wheel supports a minimum turning radius of 5.5 meters.

Comfort Features:

This all new Mahindra Xylo H9 variant is equipped with a lot of trendy features, which gives the occupants a pleasurable driving experience. It has an advanced 2-DIN audio system with voice command technology and music streaming function. It supports CD/MP3 player, radio with AM/FM tuner, Aux-in port, USB interface and four speakers. The efficient surround cool dual air conditioning unit comes with individual AC vents for cooling the cabin quickly. It has a multifunctional steering wheel, which is mounted with audio and call control buttons. This variant has 60:40 split foldable third row seat that helps in bringing more luggage. It has a 12V power socket in center console for charging mobiles and other electronic devices. Apart from these, it has all four power windows with driver side auto down and anti pinch function, electrically adjustable external rear view mirrors, 3-position lumbar support for front seats, power steering with tilt adjustable function, puddle lamps on front doors, cargo area light, illuminated ignition key slot and many other such aspects.

Safety Features:

This particular variant is bestowed with some crucial protective aspects. The list includes a central locking system, airbags for driver and front co-passenger, adjustable seats, keyless entry, an advanced engine immobilizer and centrally mounted fuel tank. Its rigid body structure has side and front impact beams, which enhances the security of occupants in case of any collision. Apart from these, it also has rear defogger, rear park assist function, ABS along with EBD and so on. It also has seat belts for all occupants along with driver seat belt warning notification on instrument panel.
